Cairo Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 I am totally against war--but my favorite monologue of all time is still the opening scene of Patton: 3 1
Hammer Smokin' Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 excellent example! That is one of my favourite scenes in film.
moneyneversleeps Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 This scene cracks me up every time. Paul Newman seems to be close to laughing at one point 1
Texwrangler Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 John Wayne in ‘The Cowboys’. He rides into camp yelling at the boys to get up and get moving by saying, ‘let’s go, we’re burning daylight’. One of the boys sleepily says after standing up, ‘burning daylight?? It’s still dark!’ My dad used to wake me up with that same phrase.
CommanderJWBond Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 Not classic cinema, but classic none the less. 1
Popular Post cgoodrich Posted August 29, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2021 One of my favorite lines from Clint Eastwood in Outlaw Josey Wales; “buzzards gotta eat, same as worms”. Favorite movies: Casablanca (classic!!!) The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Master and Commander. 6

Popular Post CommanderJWBond Posted August 29, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2021 My absolute favorite move scene. 5

rcarlson Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 I've been thinking a lot about the movie Network lately. It is even more relevant today with the internet and cable than when it was shot. This scene when Ned Beaty as Arthur Jensen is sent down to redirect Howard Beale's messianic complex with his fire-and-brimstone corporate messiah monologue is awesome. 3
Jack Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 Charlie Chaplin - The Final Speech from "The Great Dictator" 1 1
Popular Post Ryan Posted August 29, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2021 Dr Evil's family therapy speech about his childhood is still quite funny. 3 3
BigGuns Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 The list seems endless, but the first two that immediately come mind are both orated by Christopher Walken and written by Quentin Tarantino. @joeypots already shared one 2
LLC Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 Thanks for adding the clip. I really need to watch that again soon. Maybe while enjoying a DC. 1
riderpride Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 'In The Name Of The Father' is a phenomenal movie that sucks you in from the very start. The trailer doesn't quite do it justice, but based on a true story and incredible acting. Honorable mention to the 'Illinois Nazis' 2

Hard to believe this isn't a first take, so much fluidity, harrowing tension, warmth and poise That's because he was blackout drunk the first time. 2 crew members had to carry him onto the boat and sit him in his chair to shoot the scene. Shaw rewrote certain parts of it and then asked Spielberg if he could take a few shots of liquor before shooting the sequence to better live in "Quint’s bitter revelry." Spielberg granted him permission but the actual first night of shooting the scene was a complete disaster. He came in the next day of shooting sober and killed it. The final scene in the movie uses shots from both nights although you wouldn't be able to tell from how well the scene was edited together.

Yes, it's a film that lost money at the box office in 1998 and has since become an all-time cult classic. There's too many easily quotable lines from that film I can include but the one below always gives me a laugh! Lebowski and The Jerk are my two favorite comedies of all-time. Since you went there, I'll go with this scene from The Jerk. I re-worded a few parts, but used the general speech in my proposal to my wife. Been married for almost 20yrs. 5 1
