A day to celebrate with some special cigars : Today I am 12 years retired from Lufthansa. First cigar is a 1985 Bolivar Especiales Nr 2 from MRN's collection. Peaches and cream & excellent to the last puff. Fantastic ! Special ashtray by my good friend Niki Niki. Second celebration cigar - A delicious ERDM La Reina RE Gran Bretaña with a bottle of Rose brut champers. Cheers !20 points

BRE OCT 19 First time I had a minty sensation on this... Might be the pairing with a fizzy ice tea, but was quite remarkable. Verstuurd vanaf mijn VOG-L29 met Tapatalk7 points

I seem to remember that Habanos S.A last released sales figures by vitolas in the mid-2000s and at that time the Montecristo No.4 accounted for 8% of all sales. Also, the Montecristo No.4 , Partagas Serie D No.4 and Montecristo No.2 were high sellers. The current unofficial consensus is that the Partagas Serie D No.4 is the highest seller, followed by the Montecristo No.4. In 2011, Habanos S.A executives Ana López Garcia, the director of marketing operations for Habanos, Buenaventura Jiménez Sánchez-Cañete, the co-president of Habanos and Gonzalo Fernández de Navarrete González-Valerio, the sub-director of marketing confirmed that... In terms of volume, the biggest selling brands remain Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Cohiba and Partagás, and in terms of revenue, the ranking is Cohiba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta and Partagás. The single best-selling vitola, or size, is the Montecristo No. 4, a corona sized cigar, while the best-selling robusto is the Partagás Serie D No. 4. Our forum had an interesting FoH list that we can go off from 2010. According to this thread, the top 10 were: Ramon Allones Specially Selected Bolivar Royal Coronas Partagas Serie D No.4 Montecristo No.2 Cohiba Robustos Bolivar Belicosos Finos Partagas Shorts Montecristo No.4 Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 H.Upmann Magnum 46 Judging by that list of ten, I'd be surprised if much as changed in ten years since as those cigars remain popular to the present day.7 points

2008 Sir Winston - hands down I forgot about this box and was thinking nothing of it. Close to a 100 point cigar as I can imagine. What was thrilling, was not only the Kaleidescape of flavors, but the cigar had balls.7 points

Some green shoots in that there have been increasing shipments out of havana over the past fortnight. Still only a fraction of pre-May 2021. let's see if that continues. Pipeline crystalballing, some improvement over the next 30 days. Nothing major. There is no quick fix for their dilemma. There are still near record infections and deaths per day. Factories are enforcing social distancing and naturally shutting down if things get out of control. Schools are shut and will be at least until the end of September. This means female factory workers are largely looking after kids and elderly. There is no tourism = there are no flights = there are few freight cargo options out. September supply will likely be an incremental improvement over August. The best that can be hoped for at this time is incremental global supply improvements month on month for the next quarter. Any production normaility can't logically occur before January. Shipping from Cuba won't realistically improve until November/December 2021 at this stage. Back to some sense of global supply normality, June-September 2022 For the above timelines to occur, everything has to go right.6 points

Toss up. I have five stars for Siglo IV MUL NOV 14 and Punch Punch RAE DIC 14. It's been unbearably hazy, hot, and humid here this summer so I've had to work to keep my cigars from getting too moist for my tastes.6 points

A few standout cigars this month but the surprise for me was a visit with the 2019 Talisman. I wasn’t impressed with the first one I had a year and a half ago but the one I tried at the beginning of the month was outstanding. Behike-like in its flavor and complexity. Just bought 2 more boxes at a decent price hoping it wasn’t a fluke. I’m half way through a 2007 SLRDC right now. It almost took the prize for August. A great cigar for sure.5 points

Believe it or not, for me it was a 2020 R&J Romeo No. 2. I had a 3 pack of tubos tossed in to a purchase from last spring and I was pleasantly surprised. See, my experience with affordable R&Js haven't been great up until then but holy Toledo did it impress me! A bit if pepper to start that transformed in to that iconic R&J spice with notes of exotic wood and rose water throughout. I definitely smoked pricier cigars last month but that was the one that left the biggest impression on me.4 points

probably not what what comes to mind when you think kamado, but i recently picked up this weber double-wall steel kamado and it is freaking fantastic: smoked a pork shoulder with just salt and pepper (a little paprika for color) and it turned out way better than i thought it would. accidentally bought boneless so i had to tie it up and it didn't seem to suffer, very moist and lots of smoke flavor: it grills really well too, did a tri-tip, salmon, and carne asada and the only limitation has been me. -dobbs4 points

Trust me, I'm happy to try any hallucinogenic substance! 😋 But... whoever recommended I check the humidor lining was onto something. The lining was pristine, but then I looked at the shutter around the humidifier and it had the same stuff on it. So did the humidifier. I've only ever used the liquids that came with the humidor (distilled water and propylene glycol). See pics. Have removed the humidifier and the cover and put in a Boveda 62% pack for now... must have had some dodgy distilled water or something? Thanks for all your help guys - you are the best.4 points

Super Partagas tonight. Best out of the box so far. Started with pepper and spice then leather and finally sourdough/shortbread. An hour smoke time. Weather finally cooled off a bit and I think the cooler lower moisture weather really helped the burn. Looking forward to better burn even if it means retiring my shorts for a while.4 points

Mine was a Sir Winston from 2019. To lazy to go look at the box code, got it here awhile ago. Great stick the whole box is a 10 out of 10. Nubbed it, I didn't want it to stop. As always had a nice interplay of stone fruit and wood through the whole thing. No one was home but me and my dog, it was nice and quite. It was perfect and I needed it after finding out where having another child for sure a few days before. I still stand firm that my whole humidor could be this cigar and I'd have no problem just smoking this cigar. I actually called my relative and asked to make sure if I died before you please make sure to take one out of my collection and place it in my coffin. That's how much I love this cigar.3 points
