Popular Post StogieSteve23 Posted June 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 15, 2020 Starting the week off right before work Zooms. Dug into this Epi Especial box I won from our host a couple months back. ASR JUN-18 and some Nespresso. First one of these I've smoked and I am greatly enjoying it. Excellent construction and intriguing flavors. A slight saltiness reminiscent of a fresh baked loaf of pumpernickel bread with almond butter spread on top and a slight drizzle of honey. Made some BLT's for lunch and needed something a little sweet for dessert. LGR AGO-17 PLMC Took a walk around the wetlands behind our development this evening. Enjoyed an HUHC ORG SEP-15 27

I despise yard work but can certainly appreciate of job well done.Lol. Thanks The old styles were during the work ... kinda like flavored water. The reward was maplewood moon fruits and maybe a shot or two of Malorts ....I had to push this guy hard to get it done otherwise he likes to dilly dally around and take up more of my time then is needed. Popular Post Ciscojohansson Posted June 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 15, 2020 Punch DC from 2019. Fantastic, its as if it is from 2010. Boli Libertafor from 2015, I think. Also a great cigar. Very mild for a bolivar. 27
Popular Post Kongelunden Posted June 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 15, 2020 Enjoyed a Partagas de Partagas No. 1 from 2000 this evening. Can't remember the exact box code, but very nice smoke with lots of partagas power still left Can easily age for another couple of years. I truly enjoyed this classical dalia format, which unfortunately isn't so popular these days - but have to admit I really do like the lonsdale format 26

Popular Post JohnS Posted June 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 15, 2020 Punch Punch UBM Ago 2018 If you could ask one question of the current co-presidents of Habanos S.A, Inocente Núñez and Luis Sánchez-Harguindey Pardo de Vera, it probably wouldn't be, "Why call this cigar the Punch Punch Punch?" I mention this because you'd think that the moniker of a cigar being repeated three times would bring it attention over the years, but ever since the Punch 48, Asia-Pacific Regional Edition Punch 8-9-8 and the new regular production cigar, the Punch Short de Punch came out, I can't help but feel that the Punch Punch Punch has lost a little (or a lot) of its limelight. Now, I'm not here to denigrate those three aforementioned new releases to the Punch marca. On the contrary, the Punch 48 and Punch 8-9-8 have a quality light chocolate (at times) and peanut profile to them whilst the Punch Short de Punch is more dominant in sour cream and leather notes, to me, the Punch Punch (Punch) is always a cedar and classic 'Cuban Twang' affair when its at its best. This Punch Punch did have notes of sour cream and leather, but they were minimal in comparison to the cedar and that quintessential sour citrus 'Cuban Twang' we all know and love when it comes to Punch. I was in danger of burning my fingers on this one, it was that delectable! Like my previous cigar I smoked to this one, a late-2018 El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme, I must add a caveat in admitting that I dried boxed this cigar the day before loosely in a varnished Cohiba 10-count Piramides box with the room running reverse-cycle air-conditioning at night to maintain warmth. To me, it certainly made the cigar taste better the next day! 22

I've often wondered the same thing. The name is a bit of a doozy sometimes and maybe I just haven't smoked enough of the vintage ones to know the "Punch" behind it and rather usually get those peanutty notes, but in regards to the name, it seems a bit redundant.. Great review here and thanks for your tasting notes. I agree that the Punch Punch is being slightly overshadowed by the newer releases as you mentioned and do hope HSA puts as much vested interest into this classic as they seem to be doing with the newer releases of this marca. It's a staple cigar for sure and wish for it not to be 86'd from their future lineups. Could just be me being skeptical, but all good things come to an end at some point. 2
