Campanas (3/5)

  1. I like the idea of Metallica more than the band itself to be honest. Lifelong Motorhead and Charged GBH fan and both of these bands are cited as influences though Metallica never quite hit the same spot for me. Decent enough album and I use Enter Sandman as my morning alarm - one of the great musical build ups before hitting it's stride. I agree that their earlier stuff was better, harder, more thrilling but this album helped push hard metal into the mainstream and for that, kudos. 6/10 and not an album, or indeed a band, I actively search for but OK when their songs pop up. Now if anyone wants to discuss Napalm Death...[emoji869][emoji16] Sent by spooky action at a distance
  2. As the actress said to the bishop, our possibly the other way round... Sent by spooky action at a distance
  3. Not the usual bigger = better, but a catch I'm very pleased with. This is a brown trout from Easedale Tarn in the English Lake District. For years it was only rumored that they existed and for years I've fished this high tarn when hiking on the off-chance. Today I saw rises, rigged my 4 weight travel rod with a black ant dry and within two of three casts - bingo. This is as big as they get as there's little food in there but they more than make up for it in sheer beauty. Now smoking a RyJ Cazadores in celebration...
  4. Gimeno Tabac (as was, now Domingo apparently) on La Rambla was great a few years ago. I picked up two boxes of Hoyo du Prince two years after they were discontinued. Say you want to buy a box, rather than singles, and you're escorted down to the cellar... Sent by spooky action at a distance
  5. I had one over the weekend, my first and only - a FoH prize - and was disappointed in the first two thirds but it turned into something wonderful in the last 25 mins. Generally love Punch and am smoking a Short de Punch as I type, very good cigar. Sent by spooky action at a distance
  6. I've smoked a grand total of 4 BBF. 3 TEO ABR 18 which I noted as 'disappointing' and one from a FoH comp prize in August of 2020 which I noted as 'excellent'. On the back of that one cigar and the general high opinion on the forum I bought a box (SOR DIC 20 (fnarr)) that I'm leaving until the end of this year. Intrigued and curious as to what it'll bring... Love the RyJ Belicoso though I'm sure it's a very different profile. Sent by spooky action at a distance
  7. Meh. HSA have been doing out for years (allegedly, I must add as there's them thar attorneys about). Did you tell them? Sent by spooky action at a distance
  8. That just sounds A: like some weird Australian euphemism B: wrong, on so many levels Sent by spooky action at a distance
  9. Point of order Chaps. It's Chutney Mary, not Mary Chutney... Sent by spooky action at a distance
  10. I had a couple of good years financially 2020/21 and built up a good stock of premiums and larger formats. This year is all about the C&C for daily consumption as the post above alludes. I buy to smoke not flip so it's comforting to have the good stuff waiting for when I'm ready. Problem being that once a box is open it's in the rotation and will disappear, but hey, that's what they're there for. Sent by spooky action at a distance
  11. The reinvention of Travolta was amazing, from disco heartthrob to heroin hitman. Willis to a lesser degree but still a surprise. All time favourite with so many quotable lines, knowing looks, loucheness and casual swearing. Who doesn't want a Bad MoFo wallet? Sent by spooky action at a distance
  12. Sofa King, local seating shop in the UK "Our prices are Sofa King low" I heard they were told to stop using it... Sent by spooky action at a distance
  13. Surprisingly good. A very nice find in the AF world Sent by spooky action at a distance
  14. I've been looking forward to these arriving as they're a recent favourite so the ROTTRW is well timed and a good excuse. In from work, perfunctory wash & scrub up, out with a cigar in my still slightly grubby hand. Nice. Love the presentation, classy without being ostentatious, beautiful look and construction, slight sheen and strong barnyard smell on the foot. On lighting I'm surprised as to how mild it feels. Plenty of flavour - nuts, dried berries, meadow - but not with the oomph I was expecting. Absolutely lovely. Burn's a little wonky but I'll put that down to driver error and through the course of the cigar it corrects without help. Smooth into the second third with a lovely mouth feel of creamy smoke. The nut note clarifies into pistachio. As I get into the final third the dried fruit reappears subtly almost like an infusion, nice effect. I was expecting the grassy note from the opening to emerge as bitterness later but it hasn't, it's noticeable but still reminds me of a flower meadow somehow, nectar and the promise of honey once the bees get busy. Fantastic cigar, solid 9/10. So glad I was prompted to ROTT it, not sure if I can hold off on the rest now... Sent by spooky action at a distance
