Corylax18 Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 The Washington Commanders. I'm not calling them that. Not even if there's a fire! https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/02/02/washington-commanders-is-the-football-teams-new-official-name/
Popular Post moneyneversleeps Posted February 2, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 2, 2022 It took them two years to come up with that?? 5

After 20 Years of people pushing them to change it. Daniel Snyder is a moron, you really wonder how he got as rich as he did. They literally had 2 plus decades to think of something better. 2
BrightonCorgi Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 They're still the team of Sunny Jurgensen as I remember as child living outside DC.
dominattorney Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Swamp Drainers. Sports Ballers. Shot Callers. All better names. And I haven't even started drinking yet. 1 2

KCCubano Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 I recommended "Kenmanders" but shot down by higher ups 4

Corylax18 Posted February 2, 2022 Author Posted February 2, 2022 This isn't even hard. They clearly didn't focus group with any teenagers before making the choice. Haha

Popular Post rcarlson Posted February 2, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 2, 2022 I think The Washington Commodores would've had a little more panache. 2 3
NSXCIGAR Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Are they going to play without underwear? Oh wait, that's called going commando.

In fact could they have thought of anything worse. 1
LLC Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Brutal. They would have been better from just leaving Washington Football Team. 2
SpecialK Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33198434/washington-commanders-nfl-franchise-search-new-nickname-logo info on how they landed on this ..... I liked WFT better than this... But as a Cowboy fan... I can't say I'm not enjoying this a little... 2
Ken Gargett Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 rubbish name but they were always on a hiding to nothing. claimed to involve the fans, which is rubbish because the best i have seen is a couple who don't hate the name but 99% detest it. problem is what name do you use? very few options would have been loved - i did see quite a few say that they would be happy with the commanders but now we have that, they are not. personally, would have loved Hogs. would have reflected the history of the team, the great eras, the style of football. fabulous for marketing. fans love it. but it hardly has the panache that the NFL and slithery dan would want. one thing - seems every team has a name that can be shortened by fans to scream out at games, down to two syllables at most. how do they do that here? three syllables is simply too awkward. 2

They don't want to compete with names... we have a college team in the US called the Razorbacks aka "Hogs"
helix Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Gentrification of the westcoast by the Hipster millenials almost complete . How about the Frappucino's or Latte's . 😉 1

El Presidente Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 I swear to god they would have come up with something a little better. Washington Ballers would have been a cracker.

The Cowtoy's will continue to own that division and gag in the playoffs as usual sorry, a quick look and going back to 1999 - i'm sure someone has more extensive figures - and it seems that the eagles actually own the division (lot of good it does them). they've won ten divisional titles, cowgirls 6, washington 4 and giants 3. from memory, you have to go back nearly three decades before the girls won consecutive divisional titles. if you think that is owning the division, then we have massively different standards.
