Kenton1971 Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Hello all, In addition to RASS, Coro, SD4 and Choix Supreme (I have quite a lot of already) just wanted to get input from folks about Robustos/ Hermosos size cigars that you feel are good "everyday" smokes but can also be put down for a long winter's nap (ie. 10+ years). I was looking at SLR Regios, Bolivar Royal Corona and R&J Ex.no.4. (or maybe another I've not mentioned)? Thanks to all!
Islandboy Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 3 more favorites of mine are Juan Lopez #2, H Upmann Mag 54 and RyJ Short Churchill. 3

Puros Y Vino Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 PL Picadores. Great price, great smoke. PL Galanes look very promising too. PSD4's can be a good everyday smoke, though letting them age pays off in the long run. Quinteros Favoritos if you must have an everyday Robusto. Hard to beat the price. I have some older boxes, they certainly aren't getting worse. RyJ Short Churchills fit the bill as great fresh/aged. 1
HarveyBoulevard Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 The previous CCW spreadsheet had cigars I don't really consider a 'robusto' so here is one that is a bit more narrowly focused on your 'true' robusto. I currently smoke all but the Monte Open Master and the RyJ Short Churchills. I don't think you can go wrong on any of the rest. The JL Seleccion No. 2 is my favorite and smokes great at any age in my opinion. Bolívar Royal Coronas c1969 Robustos 50 x 124 (4⅞″) Robusto Cohiba Robustos 1989 Robustos 50 x 124 (4⅞″) Robusto Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 pre-1960 Robustos 50 x 124 (4⅞″) Robusto Juan López Selección No.2 1990s Robustos 50 x 124 (4⅞″) Robusto Montecristo Master 2009 Robustos 50 x 124 (4⅞″) Robusto Partagás Serie D No.4 1975 Robustos 50 x 124 (4⅞″) Robusto Ramón Allones Allones Specially Selected (2) 1975 Robustos 50 x 124 (4⅞″) Robusto Romeo y Julieta Short Churchills 2006 Robustos 50 x 124 (4⅞″) Robusto Credit to Cubancigarwebsite.com 2
karp Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Bolivar RC and Hoyo de Monterrey Epi2 are both very good. 3
Chas.Alpha Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Epi 2 and the Epi especials, along with the JL 2. 2
RDB Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Shortlist of three robusto / hermoso #4 for me: Cohiba, RyJ Ex#4, SLR Regios. B-team: VR Famosos, Choix Supreme, Picadores. The reason the D4 is not on here is I’m always drawn bigger (Lusi) or smaller (Short) in the Partagas line. And I’d always rather smoke Monte #2 or especiale #2 than a petit edmundo. 1
GaryK 54 Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Bolivar RC and Juan Lopez Seleccion no. 2 are at the top my list that starts with RASS and PSD4. 1
oesman Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Another vote for Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 I have a reasonably well aged one left and it's just begging to be smoked. 1
LLC Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 For ones you didn’t mention, I’d say the the JL2 and RyJ Ex No. 2 1
Habana Mike Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 I stock all but the Masters. PSD4, RASS, CoRo my top 3. 1
MrBirdman Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 While the Short de Punch is technically a petit robusto, it’s only about 4mm or something short of a full robusto, and I consider it a very good one.
Skypilot Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 VR Famosos for sure, psd4, hdm epi 2. Cohiba if you can justify the price.
NSXCIGAR Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 10 years down? I just had a Regios that was a butt kicker. Evidently all of a sudden they're stuffing these with ligero. I can tell some flavors are muted. 10 years could be the sweet spot for these. 1
canadianbeaver Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 CoRo, HoyoEpi2, ERDM. Short Robusto but QDO50 and loved it since day 1. CB

If they are blending them strong I definitely will consider a box.
