JohnS Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 What? Only 18 bottles of wine and six bottles of spirits? Oh, the humanity! ? 4
Habana Mike Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 At least it's only per day for now! If like the run on toilet paper, best stock up now!
OZCUBAN Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Under the new restrictions which came into force on Wednesday morning, daily limits restrict people to purchasing the following: three bottles of wine one carton of beer, cider or pre-mix spirits one litre of spirits one litre of fortified wine a lot less generous
Fuzz Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 That's not that bad. The daily per person limits for the Bathurst 1000 are a lot more draconian. 1 x carton of full-strength beer (5 per cent alcohol or less) - 24 cans x 375mls or less, or 1 x carton of light / mid strength beer (3.5 per cent alcohol or less) - 30 cans x 375mls or less, or 1 x carton of pre-mixed spirits (6 per cent alcohol or less) - 24 cans x 375mls, or 1 x carton of cider (5 per cent alcohol or less) - 24 cans x 375mls, or 1 x cask of sealed wine (14.5 per cent alcohol or less) totalling 4 litres or less, or 2 x 375ml plastic bottles of spirits (38 per cent alcohol or less) - must be the original manufacturer's product with seal unopened, or 1 x 750ml bottle of spirits (plastic only)

Cigar Surgeon Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 When your wife goes through your whisky collection and figures out how many drams you can have every day before you die, and how many bottles are still left over, you're probably okay.
BrightonCorgi Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 No politician in the US would ever consider these measures if they want any shot at getting re-elected.
rckymtn22 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 In South Africa they have banned the sale of alcohol and cigarettes for at least the next 3 weeks. 3
teamrandr Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 The Alcohol is plentiful in the states. In fact many liquor stores are still open during the lockdown.
Wookie Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 They tried thAt in Colorado I think.....lasted almost 24 hours before the liquor stores and pot dispensaries re-opened. 1

BrightonCorgi Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 The mention taxes on liquor in MA could get you killed or injured around here. That's the one sacred off limit's thing in our state. https://www.boston.com/news/local-news/2020/03/23/massachusetts-liquor-stores-essential-businesses-coronavirus We know what happens on liquor bans. https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/covid-19-lockdown-kerala-liquor-ban-suicide-1660306-2020-03-27?
El Hoze Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 I loaded up on booze. I have multiple solutions for running out of toilet paper. If I run out of booze things get messy quickly. 1

In Chicago, everyone would just start hoarding unnecessarily. If the Wisconsin government tried rationing liquor north of the cheddar curtain, citizens would storm the capital building and burn it to the ground. 1

Smatthews607 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Pennsylvania liquor stores are all closed. They closed on St. Patrick's Day. But beer distributors remain open. They are considered essential to sustaining life. Couldn't agree more! 1
Frozen North Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 I’m good. I have over 140 bottles of Scotch alone ? 1 1
DaBoot Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 California liquor stores and pot dispensaries are “essential” and still open. Some local stores are placing limits on purchases, 2 cases beer, 2 bottles liquor, 2 packs is cigarettes, etc. obviously the tp situation is hilarious ?
gweilgi Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Distilling spirits for home use is quite illegal in Australia. In this spirit, may I say that if we hypothetically had a still at home -- which we certainly do not because that is illegal -- we would not be worried by these restrictions but quite happily drunk on home-made schnaps, vodka, gin and poitin. So that's really quite hypothetical. We would not dream of breaking the law, ossifer. Really. Honest.
westg Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 You cannot buy soil of any kind where I live....people are buying all of it for vege beds. Buy the time this is all over , I hope they enjoy some really good produce. Bunnings now has restrictions as well .
