Just wanted to express a sadness and dismay about the killing of what seemed like a very kind and mild mannered man. I know a very small about Japanese politics, but he seemed to be a universally loved and respected figure. I'm sure every political figure attracts their enemies no matter how meek and mild. Nobody deserves this, but it just made me especially sad and angry, that there are so many hateful, self serving, destabilising, and corrupt politicians in the world right now, and THIS guy get assassinated!!!? The world makes no sense sometimes. RIP11 points

These codes had the highest % of PSP/HQ in June 2022. If you are shopping blind (anywhere) you could do worse than to pick one of these if you have the option. These are all 2021/2022 and generally across multiple lines. TEU AMP LGB LOS TUA GEL TLU TRS RAT BLT10 points

We finally figured out how to grow things after a couple of disappointing seasons. Turns out plants like water… We pulled this out today and have been pulling similar amounts out about every two days for the last couple of months. Also been pulling out tons of okra, green beans, snow peas, turnips, radishes, and carrots. Probably something else in there I forgot about.7 points

About 2 weeks ago, I smoked one of these at a BBQ and I remember it being extremely tasty. Now, I had been downing quite a few glasses of wine and was having some pretty well peated Islay Scotch with the cigar. So I’ve been meaning to revisit this to see whether it’s still as tasty, what better time than a PC review weekend! The cigars came from a local brick and mortar, got them about 6 months ago. The box they came from was MSU JUL 18. Formula 1 free practice is on, perfect length for a Petit Corona. Pre-light Bit of a mottled wrapper, a little lumpy too. Smells of hay and tobacco. I straight cut it, draw is excellent. The cold draw doesn’t reveal much other than sweet tobacco. First half On the first draws, there is a very pronounced vanilla sweetness. Now, sweet does not mean light in this case. On the palate there is this big bold tobacco core with a bitter drying effect. This is exactly like the other one was, very satisfying. It’s kind of like a gin&tonic. Not the flavors, but the sweetness up front followed by the bitter drying effect. On the retrohale I can detect something of a dark cherry. Second half The draw flavor remains sweet, not vanilla anymore but darker sweetness. On the palate it got way bolder. Leather, earth and coffee. The retrohale is now all dried fruit. As I go past the band all the sweetness goes and the smoke starts tasting of toasted mixed nuts. The smoke gets too hot or I would’ve smoked it even further down. Conclusion It held up to my inebriated recollection of the other one. Construction was good, didn’t have to correct the burn and the ash held on for a few inches at a time. Smoked it in about 45 minutes. 93/1005 points

Last night, I smoked a N3 Ebony Carlota. This one—now in my possession for 6 months—was amazingly better than the one that I smoked 3 months ago. I was thinking that the maduro version was not for me, but aging these Nudies changed my opinion. What a delicious smoke. Bravo Rob and Hamlet!5 points

Well, after a month of matchups & voting, the H. Upmann Sir Winston has once again (based on similar comps in the past) defeated all-comers as the best Cuban cigar going! Smashing the Lusitania in the final matchup is a pretty impressive testament to its right to the title. The overall Bracket winner was @GotYaGoat with a super impressive 88%!! Very well done!! The Goat collects the fantastic grand prize Punch 898 box (10) for the win! - Please PM your details (name, address, and email) to me, and we'll arrange dispatch of your prize. Sampler prizes go to 2nd & 3rd places, which was a tie between 3 on 85%: @EMC12, @hrs1, and @Edwin M !! Again, PM your details to me. Final Top Ten Well done and thanks to all who participated! Also, special mention to Tom @tjkoala who came up with the concept and did much of the groundwork and operation for the comp - fantastic effort, Tom! Thank you!4 points

For those who haven't read it (and are interested), an excellent interview with Phoenicia group Chairmen, Mohamed Zeidan CONTINUED These are the words of Mohamed Zeidan, Chairman of the Phoenicia Group of Companies, about the founding of his cigar supply and distribution business in Lebanon in 1979. The 40th anniversary of partnership with the Cuban cigar business through Cubatabaco and Habanos was due to be celebrated in November 2019, but postponed. Finally, last month, the group hosted a sumptuous evening that blended the physical and the virtual to mark the occasion.4 points

Smoked my first of these a few months ago and (hand-to-God), I got notes of…salted steak with mushrooms. Granted I’d had a few Knob Creeks, but the taste was definitely there. Since then I’ve been stalking them like TMZ on a Kardashian and have managed to pick up a few boxes. Here’s hoping they can bring the same flavor, and that our esteemed host will have some to offer on 24:24 before too long!4 points

RIP Kinda have to phrase this as "favorite movie besides the Godfather" (as you would for anyone in it, even Pacino I suspect). For me personally, it's Misery - not that it's an especially "great" movie, but I read a lot of Stephen King growing up. For an author whose work has been turned into some - ahem - questionable films, Misery was one that definitely hit the mark (and stayed much closer to the source material than The Shining). He and Bates had good chemistry (if you can call it that).4 points
