I may be coming back after a 2 week flirtation with NC. This one is good, but at the same price point I'd gladly take a Party Short,BCJ, or PLPC. In the same vitola, Monte 3 is worth the small premium over this. There's something about the delivery in most NC that just seems to overwhelm the senses, whereas a CC allows you to slowly decode what the blend is to you.12 points

Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo du Maire TEO May 2018 The Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo du Maire is a thin Entreactos cigar with a 30 ring gauge x 100 mm (or just under 4 inches) length. Unfortunately, the draw on this was a little loose on account of the cigar being slightly underfilled. I also couldn't get a hold of the burn as the cigar kept going out and the ash was so flaky it kept breaking off continually. Flavours however were typical for the Le Hoyo line - wood, light milk cocoa, tobacco with vanilla and cinnamon spice. The pleasurable flavours couldn't redeem the frustration caused by the multiple construction issues I experienced whilst smoking this cigar today. I was very disappointed to say the least! El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse MLU Dic 2018 I was profoundly disappointed with this cigar today. That youthful 'toastiness', citrus, fruit and honey was there, it was just hard to find as the draw was a little too tight, but not plugged enough to warrant intervention with my PrefecDraw tool. Overall, I have a quarter of this box left and the best way to describe the cigars smoked is inconsistent. It has been frustrating smoking tight and plugged examples but the flip-side is the fact that there have been sensational ERdM Demi Tasses when construction was not an issue.11 points

H. Upmann Royal Robusto 2011 - La Casa del Habano Exclusivo SUE Abr 2012 Up until the release of the 2010 Ramon Allones Superiores, La Casa del Habanos cigars were considered exclusive releases with a limited production run. That changed around 2010-11 and since that time the greater majority of LCDH releases have been in continued production ever since (albeit amongst short periods of production hiatus). I have enjoyed a number of them over the years, but strangely enough, this may be the first or second H.Upmann Royal Robusto I've actually sampled. I'd like to thank @baragh for gifting me this cigar to smoke today. The H.Upmann Royal Robusto was released circa 2012 and is an Edmundo-sized vitola with a 52 ring gauge x 135 mm (or 5⅜ inches) length. Incidentally, the H.Upmann Connossieur A is the same ring gauge and only 5 mm (or one-fifth of an inch) longer, but I would definitely classify the Royal Robusto as a very different Upmann cigar to the Connossieur A. Broadly speaking, in my opinion, there are Upmann cigars that excel in 'softer' flavours such as shortbread and cream and there are Upmann cigars that are more robust giving you stronger cedar, coffee and leather flavours. I'd put the Connossieur A in the former category and the Royal Robusto in the latter one. With eight years of age on this cigar, the coffee flavour was light but it still had a cedar and leather spine to it. Along the way I enjoyed a vanilla or licorice sweetness in the first third which transposed in the second third with the addition of some cinnamon spice. In the last third I got some further complexity with white pepper notes. Yes, it was an excellent cigar and for my preference I would favour an Upmann cigar like this with this amount of age on it. It was exactly to my liking.7 points

I know the Media Luna has been classified as a petit robusto, but to me, it smokes more like a robusto than a petit robusto. The size is not that much smaller. I love the Vigia, but they do smoke a lot hotter than the Media Luna if you are not careful, due to the fact that the Vigia are slightly shorter, and a lot fatter. So as much as I like the Vigia, the overall smoking experience with the Media Luna is more enjoyable. I took some pics to illustrate what I am talking about: Media Luna Vs D4 And here it is in between a true robusto and another “petit robusto”. In answer to the general question of the thread, having smoked through several boxes of each size, this is the order I would place the 3 new Trinidads: 1. Esmeralda 2. Media Luna 3. Topes The Esmeralda and the Media Luna are very similar in their rich flavor and complexity. I give the Esmeralda bonus points for providing a longer time to enjoy the amazing flavors of these cigars. The Topes is still an excellent cigar, but very few have been as rich in flavor as the other two sizes. I am hypothesizing that the larger ring gauge is less favorable to the blend, but, what the hell do I know? All I know, is I prefer the flavors of the first two.5 points

Some recent smokes. ASR JUL-18: EE ASU MAR-19: Monte 1 LGR AGO-17: PLMC TPO OCT-19: Short de Punch Mystery smoke from @Lrabold89 which turned out to be a Nudie N3. Absolutely fantastic smoke. Lots of cedar, roasted nuts and a slight minty flavor throughout. Milk chocolate on the retro. Super enjoyable.4 points

This is the 2nd cigar I pulled out of this August 2018 box. All of the cigars in this box look stunning - light brown wrappers, oils, no veins, impeccable triple caps - they are just stunning. I knew that Sunday (Father’s Day) was going to be a 2 cigar kind of day. So I chose this QDO to smoke first because it is more light bodied. Predominantly a bready/nutty/citrus profile that did not change much throughout the experience. I wish I had more detail to give you on this review but that really sums it up. It was effortless in every sense of the word - no touch ups, no draw issues, no harsh or bitter flavors. There were not many transitions or deep complexity to speak of, but I absolutely love the mild bodied vibe of these. So easy to smoke. I prefer the 54 over the 50 personally. Overall: 92/100 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

From the weekend... RAG AGO 19 - these are smoking brilliantly right now. Easily #1 cigar for me. BRE JUL 19 - this was the second from this box and both have been good ?? Bespoke Pony Express LE - they hit out of the park with this one. This and the Traditional Line Cotton Tail are my favorite NC ABO SEP 18 - these are in my top 5 right now UAO OCT 19 Media Luna LGR SEP 194 points

Any $3 NC is going to be a dog rocket. On the other hand, a $3 CC is called a Quintero Favorito. That’s the floor with Habanos and it’s only up from there. I rest my case.3 points

I never thought Cohiba Maduro 5 would age well. I have been proved wrong. Adam brought some 2010 aged Genios to the deck back in march and they were exceptional. mix between a Siglo VI and a light chocolate thick shake.3 points

NCs being cheaper than CCs is news to me. Sure, there are probably more $20+ NCs but the average premium NC is in the $8-10 range as are most premium CCs. And good luck finding $3-4 NCs that can compete in any way with CCs in that price range.3 points
