[Glass Half Full]

My first Partagás Maduro No. 1  I'd been waiting for more age but was encouraged by my experience from the Xmas Sampler RASS last night.  

Delicious blend, smoking wonderfully after just a year.  A tiny bit of the Partagás "bite" (if you will) in the 2nd 1/3rd, but finishing as a great smoke now...

Got sent some FR Casilda sized cigars, 53x185 and tried the first one today - it blew me away, what a delicious cigar !
Perfect construction and draw, very mild, sweet notes throughout, extremely aromatic and full of flavours.
Absolute gem - easily 98 points in my book. The best of La Meca del Tabaco !
120 minutes of pure joy.

Hamlet Paredes is the roller.  He's a very well known Cuban master roller and friend to many on this site.  Salamones and Flying Pig vitolas are his "trademark" custom rolls.  I've grabbed many from him on trips to Havana or when he came to town(Toronto) to do rolling exhibits at various B&M's.  Since 2015 he's moved to the US and has his own line under Rocky Patel.  Do a search here or elsewhere for his name.  There's a lot of info on him. If you ever have the chance to meet him at an event, take the time to do so.  He's very personable and engaging. 

Quick article on him below.  Since he jumped ship, his Cuban custom rolls are highly sought after.  There's a good chance he'll never roll Cuban tobacco again. So those that have them, treasure them.

 Bushido - Rich, earthy, complex, and a great buzz. Dazed and Confused played a few minutes ago too.  A perfect cigar enjoying moment.

Saw the Siglo IV's on the 24:24 ...so was prompted to have one tonight!  (I have some of the same box code and date -- OMS May 2017 -- from an earlier FOH purchase.) 

Just a wonderful, truly delicious start.  Great cold draw, and the first 1/3rd was creamy, balanced, really enjoyable.  That said, to my taste, it seems that just a little more rest would make the 2nd third reach its full potential.  This was still a good cigar, and this is just my opinion.  The promise seems great with a little more patience

The sheen on that looks just wonderful.  

Do you mind sharing what temperature and RH% you maintain to store that older cigar so perfectly?  

I am still in search of the perfect balance.  Just today finished installing a dedicated a/c unit for the cigar room (closet really).  I found that the "wineadors" just weren't cutting it -- they needed constant tinkering -- so I bit the bullet and decided to follow one of PigFish's many suggestions:  Cool the room and contain humidity for separated storage.  It seems to be a process -- but that cigar seems like proof  that you've got it figured out!

I keep all my cigars in weather tight containers in the basement. 65-69 degrees almost always and use 62 bovedas. They mostly stay between 62 and 65 rh. I’ve got a couple wineadors down there too at 62 degrees but they’re not really necessary since the temp stays so constant down there. I don’t really ever need to dry box. They’re all good to go.

TLE SEP 20 Esmeralda. Very good as is usually the case. Very mild for this time of the year but howling winds again today so in the garage I go.

A couple from the last few weeks. JL2 was the first from a 2018 box and smoked great.
