Popular Post HumidorJuan Posted July 26, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2019 Car gets wrecked a few days ago and than today I turn 35. What does that mean? That means I send the kids to daycare and take my sweet time with this fantastic smoke. 23

Popular Post JohnS Posted July 26, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2019 Por Larrañaga Coronas 2017 - Edición Regional 5ta Avenida 2018 (thanks @ayepatz!) 5ta Avenida (or Quinta Avenida) is Spanish for 5th Avenue. It's also the name of the distributor of regional Edition cigars for Germany, Austria and Poland. This 2017 Por Larranaga Petit Coronas was released in September 2018 and this cigar came from the same box that Rob and Ken smoked from for their recent video review (thanks to our dear friend @ayepatz for gifting us these cigars), a review where they sang the praises of this latest release from 5ta Avenida. If you are familiar with these releases from this distributor, then you'd know that the first three have been reputable - the La Gloria Cubana Glorias (2015), the Bolívar Tesoro (2016), the Por Larrañaga Coronas (2017). The fourth release, the upcoming 2018 Punch Preferidos is due sometime in 2019. There are two things that I greatly admire about this release and they are the dimensions of the cigar and the packaging. Firstly, the cigar is a Coronas vitola at 42 ring gauge x 142 millimetres (or 5.6 inches). This vitola has been decimated in the last 20 years by Habanos S.A. There are only three left in regular production, the Montecristo No.3, Romeo y Julieta Cedros de Luxe No.2 and the Quai d’Orsay Coronas Claro. Secondly, this comes in the classic 50 cab SLB; again, a packaging size that is no longer as prevalent as in the past. The draw on this coronas was perfect and the cold draw had quality hay and barnyard notes. The cigar wrapper was a glorious Colorado claro, and it had a sheen and suppleness common to what I've seen on some Cohiba wrappers. The cigar screamed caramel and honey from the 'get-go' and it simply did not let up. I got this pronounced flavours well into the second third. Naturally the cigar got a little more intense in the last third, maybe a little more 'woody' but honestly, not that much. Overall, it made me wonder how they got that much caramel and honey in a Por Larranaga at such an early stage of its development. By comparison, I would expect that I would need 3 more years of rest on my 5-year old Por Larranaga Petit Coronas 50 Cab to come close to matching it. If you are able to pick up a cab from this distributor, do so and without hesitation. What a wondrous smoking experience this was! 24 3

It seems to me that HSA is producing cigars that smoke better younger than previously, I wonder if this has something to do with it? 1

Yes...and possibly saving quality seco leaf for limited productions such as this one, which one can objectively understand from a business point of view. 1

Popular Post RDB Posted July 26, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2019 Really rich and full-bodied Bolivar Royal Corona. ETP AGO 16 and burning nicely. After smoking this it feels like I’ve been eating that salty Swedish liquorice. 19
Popular Post HDGSN Posted July 27, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 27, 2019 RASS MUR OCT 13. Only 3 left. This seam is very similar in quality to the HUC1 PLM MAY 11 seam. 17

Popular Post inter4alia Posted July 27, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 27, 2019 Jan 18 ??. Tried a few from this box over the past six months or so and they weren't ready. I think they are finally turning the corner at 1.5 years. 22

Popular Post Deeg Posted July 27, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 27, 2019 LGR NOV 17 Principe. A little darker than prior ones I’ve tried - a delicious spicy element (Mexican hot chocolate?) on top of the usual espresso, pancake and molasses richness. Fantastic as ever. 23
Popular Post westg Posted July 27, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 27, 2019 Reynaldo custom....my last and easily the best cigar I have smoked this year . Silky smooth wrapper, luscious smoke , an even balance citrus leather and spice , almost perfect . The sun was shining...a little herf 24
Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted July 27, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 27, 2019 Nice morning for a Siglo VI. All summer long there has been a lot of whale activity in the backyard. Almost daily. But I always only have the crappy iPhone camera with me so I never get good shots of them. This weekend, I brought a proper camera with a good telephoto lens. My plan for the day is to sit here all day, smoke cigars, and wait for them. And if they don’t show up, well, it’s still a pretty good day. This La Fuerza is the first San Cristobal I have smoked in probably 10 years. Not on purpose, I always like them, I just haven’t bought a box in a long time. This one is ROTT, arrived yesterday so I will reserve judgment for later, but so far, other than the wonky beach burn, it Has a very nice flavor. Monte 2 Finishing the day with a Monte Maltes. 26
