Di and I head back from the coast tomorrow night after a late dinner with friends. There is something about waking up in your own bed the day before you head back to work ;)

We had a great week away. Inclement weather aside, I surfed most days, we achieved a tan and long lunched at some excellent restaurants. I didn't get to fish as the water was too fresh after the floods but I will be back in a couple of weeks chasing tuna on fly.

Looking forward to a good steak tomorrow night. Some news for you good folk next week.

What's up for the weekend?

Nothing spectacular.

Cigars, Single Malt, Hockey and UFC.

I've taken a liking to the Plasencia Cosecha 149's that have recently turned up in the UK. All Honduran tobacco IIRC.

After drinking Bourbon for ages, I recently tried some un-peated single malt and have another bottle in the post, so have just started another expensive journey into high end booze. I've been watching Ralfydotcom's reviews for some ideas and just getting myself orientated in what seems like a bit of a minefield of marketing vs quality products.

After getting absolutely reamed mid-week, the Leafs are playing Saturday, so hopefully they can have a better showing this Saturday. And since I'll be up after 2am after hockey (time zones) I might as well watch the UFC as it's not too bad a card.

Also have a mother-in-law trip next weekend, @SpecialK. Best of luck with yours.

Tonight making enchiladas and relaxing. Tomorrow I have my "long ride" on the bike trainer for 70.3 Ironman prep. Still way behind schedule after a stress fracture in my foot took me out of training for 6 weeks (and good eating and drinking exacerbated my becoming a shape that isn't "in shape"). Hoping to get a swim or a run done on Sunday along with household chores.

Was hoping it'd be nice enough for a cigar on Saturday--and still looks like it will be--but now I have a sinus infection that will make having one a little pointless.

Cheers to a nice weekend everyone!

Did a full Ironman about 10 years ago and my ass still hurts from the hours and hours and hours spent on the bike trainer. For me, the most brutal part of it! Good Luck to you on the quest! The race days always make up for the work put into them.

As for weekend plans, tomorrow I head to Colorado for a month with my wife and three year old son for some snowboarding/skiing. That usually eats into my cigar regimen a little bit but I make up for it with extra beer.

Most of my Day Saturday will be spent travelling from Denver to Havana. Hopefully the evening ends with a LONG dinner and Cigar at Espacio's, Marea is the back up plan.

If they let me in, the plan for Sunday is at least 2 dives in Playa Coral. About 40 min west of Varedero, maybe a 3rd, night dive, if we can find a good spot. If we dont do the night dive, we'll do another long dinner somewhere in Havana. Wish me luck!

Good luck

Well I'm glad you asked!
Saturday I'm participating in a battle of the bands, 90's edition show with Will Cooper, Dave Burck (American living in Australia!), and Hector Alfonso Sr. from Espinosa for the show Cigar Jukebox.

Somehow I also need to fit in 3 or 4 reviews as the weather here has warmed up but as a result we're getting absolutely dumped on with snow which makes smoking just as challenging. Can't fall behind.

Today was looking at hood vents at an appliance store, a BBF outside, made some mozzarella, and drank two bottles of Champagne & wine with wife and friend.

Used the mozzarella a couple of hours later in baked pasta.

Was able to wash both cars, focusing on power washing the wheel wells and under carriage.   I bought this device last season for power washing the under carriage and it's really terrific.  Worth it for anyone who's into auto detailing.

Seems like I spend the weekend ferrying my nine year old between cricket training, mountain bike club, a play date with his best friend…

Managed to sneak a R&J Short Churchill in yesterday early evening, which was just lovely and just what I needed after cooking a beef and chicken roast dinner for the family.
