I’ve come to realize that PE, and #2s are very much in my wheel house. However, I’ve never had a #1 and I’m really attracted to the size.

I’m curious to here your guys’ thoughts on how they compare to the others in terms of flavor.

For me: 1, 3, 4 are pretty similar (cocoa, coffee, twang). 2 and 5 are kind of similar (similar in a way but stronger and with some spice to them). If you've had a Monte 4, I'd say it's more similar to that than the 2.

I havnt had one yet that I’ve loved (I’ve only had them out of 2 boxes). I have a BOE DIC 18 box that looks perfect but every time I have one I keep feeling like it needs more time. Since I’m a skinny whore and they should age phenomenally I won’t give up!

No 1 might be a bit light for you if you're into the PE and No. 2. Those definitely have more kick than the 1, 3 or 4. The 5 does have that kick however.

If you like the 3 and 4 you'll like the 1. Very similar. And the Cervantes is a great vitola.

If you want a larger cigar with the kick the DE is a little more in line with the No. 2 but is better rounded, more refined. I really only smoke PE, DE and No. 5.

Avoid the Edmundos. They're much lighter than the PE or No. 2.

No bite or barnyard like a Monte 2 at all but it does have the coffee and chocolate in a milder version. Very much the same as Monte 4 but a longer smoke.

Saturday mornings on the patio in the summer - racing form, coffee, and Monte 1 - perfection.

I want to be a fan of the No 1, as I like the size,  but the lemon citrus mixed with the chocolate malt notes is a big turn off for me, It's a blend that doesn't do anything for me.

I am the complete opposite. Love that flavour profile. :cigar:

FWIW,  I have recently been delving into the No.5's and find them to be excellent. I will be stocking a few boxes into the long term aging humidor.

the #1 really shines after 5 years, my current open box is from 2014.

Have been smoking these since 2008 or so.

They do seem to favor the #3 more than the #2.

special occasion stick for me.

Lemon citrus mixed with any other flavor in a cigar is heaven for me lol. It's funny really how subjective this all can be!

A well constructed Monte No. 1 can turn into a 2+ hour smoke. My 2018 PSPs routinely take 2.5 hours. A slow smoking Lonsdale.

it takes me longer to smoke a #1 than a leyenda. same length, but a 13 point difference in RG.

I don't "dislike" > 52 RG's....but damn do they burn hot and quick.

Pretty deep on the #1, recommend giving them a shot.

Great flavor and aromas. Love the vitola!

i'm into some 2017 monte 1's and they are already quite enjoyable!

i'm sure they'll be better in the future, but four years in and they are great.

Much agreed @Habana Mike! It's classy coffee and woody bomb Cervates Lonsdale from Montecristo indeed! Guinness pairs really well with this CC BTW.
