It helps protect the cigars from getting sand into them on Mexican beaches. I think retailers are getting creative on trying to reduce damage to the cigars in transit, especially with smaller stock to replace if they are damaged. The less the cigars can move, the less they can get damaged. I honestly find this to be a pretty interesting way to do it. All for protecting my cigars in transit for sure--lots of retailers have a long way to go to reach the service and protection level of our host.
