gweilgi Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Wile E. Coyote. A great and deep meditation on the human condition and the spirit of perseverance. 2
planetary Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Depending on my mood, either Martin Sheen's President Jed Barlet from The West Wing or Matthew McConaughey's Rust Cohle from True Detective (season/story 1). If you want to talk ensembles, I'd look toward The Wire or again The West Wing. I have enormous fondness for Buffy and Battlestar Galactica, but for me nostalgia and genre is more at play there than depth, endurance, and resonance.
Islandboy Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 David Carradine as Caine in Kung Fu, hands down. His humble nature was quite influential on me as a teenager. In fact, as an adult I’m very much like his character. Except I have hair. And I don’t know Kung Fu. And my life is rarely on the line. And I’m a smart ass. Otherwise...I’m just like him. 1 1
ayepatz Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Denny Crane and House are two of my favourites. But nothing comes close to Basil Fawlty. 1
99call Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Nothing quite says 'mental illness/midlife crisis' than cleaning your kitchen surfaces with souvenir beefeater teddy bears, and playing air base in a static caravan, before meeting with the Inland revenue. 1 1

99call Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 'Uncle June' AKA Dominic Chianese from Sopranoes. He's got a pair of lungs on him too. "Hey June!, if there's flies on you........there paying rent!" 1
Colt45 Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Without thinking on it too much, first that pops into my head is Frasier Crane.
Alexw33 Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 A couple that instantly spring to mind have already been said. Omar Little from The Wire and Gob Blueth from Arrested Development. One yet to be mentioned Tyrion Lannister from GoT.
joeypots Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 I’m not sure I have a favorite but David Brent, Ricky Gervais’ character in the original UK show The Office comes to mind.
Akela3rd Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Any of the Father Ted cast, with Mrs Doyle coming in by a short head. Ah, go on. Go on, go on, go on... 1 1
Riverstyx Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Don Draper Dexter Harvey Specter And I'm really like Ed Harris's character, The Man in Black, in West World. We need more rugged men in shows. 1

I think it was around episode 3 or 4 that I hit a wall when things took a very strange turn with one of the other more sinister characters.
