  2. Celebrating getting a pergola (mostly) installed in the back yard! We live on a hill facing west towards the ocean and get pounded with spring winds and summer sun so it’ll be great to have some more peaceful cigar sessions back here!

  4. According to Halfwheel, prices for Partagas Serie D No.4 are going up 23% in Germany and 17% in Spain. This prompted me to get another 10-count box of PSD4. It was nice to receive it with three years of age on it too!

  6. CSCO Habano XX Lancero superior in all regards. These guys truly understand the palette of CC lovers (and I think that we also open up the wallet for significantly aged tobacco). But I have yet to be let down by any of their offerings Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. This day in 1944, a living miracle happened. In defiance of physics, Higgins Landing Craft were able to carry the gargantuan balls of those who rushed into the gates of hell. This includes soldiers from America, Britain, Canada, Australia, Belgian, Czech, Netherlands, France, Greece, New Zealand, Poland, and Rhodesian. Thank you to all those who have served, and have shouldered the burden of a serving family member.

  12. Hi all, Just got back from my annual fishing trip to Harmans Log Cabins just outside of Petersburg, WV. 5 days of fly fishing, over eating, over drinking and plenty of fantastic cigars on the stream and buy the fire at night. Many laughs and reconnecting with my buddies, some of which I only see at this trip. This was the 23rd year of keeping the tradition. A lot has changed for all of us over the years and keeping this tradition has kept us all close. When we started it was another reason to get together and throw back to much alcohol and bad food, but has evolved into a way to stay connected, share what is going on in everyone's life, laugh over the memories we have created as well as make new ones. As we all get older it has become the highlight of the year for all of us. If you are ever in the area I can't recommend this place enough. This was the 13th year me and my fishing buddies have gone here for our trip. Before that we would camp in the State College are of Pennsylvania, which we did for 10 years before deciding to quit sleeping in tents and looked for a place with cabins. I routinely fish all over Western PA and West Virginia and I have to say that all of it is amazing for fly fishing, but Harmans is hands down the crowd favorite. The cabins are amazing and the fishing is nothing like we have experienced anywhere else. Attached is the monster trout I caught this year. A personal best for sure. I wish I had a scale to weigh it, I am sure it was over 7 pounds. Hope you all are enjoying your summer as much as I am so far!

  13. This begins as you would expect it, slight pepper, smoked oak and chestnut. It paired perfectly with Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata C# minor (1st movement.) A complexity builds as the flavors switch between a bell pepper and sweet spice, much like the piano’s bass and treble keys. I have no doubt why these made the FOH top 2! The 2nd movement is exactly as Beethoven wrote it. Uplifting, inspiring, still moody. I love this piece of music and this cigar. For the same reasons... 3rd of 3: The cigar, just like the 3rd movement of this is a galloping horse, not in so much a hurry to get to the finish line. Partagas Serie P2: Definitely worthy of Partagas. Maybe worthy of piano sonata # 18? 😳

  14. H. Upmann Half Corona from 21. I haven't had one like it before as it integrated a host of charred sugarcane on the palate. Gorgeous. 96 point experience which was insane for a HUHC. I lit another up from the box the following day. 94 pointer.

  17. To cap off my weekend I decided to smoke a Partagas Petit Coronas Especiales (MEP ABR 20). I was not disappointed! I would call the cigar full-bodied, and by the end of it I was quite relaxed! The flavors were great, albeit pretty straightforward. Partagas flavors were prominent, most notably coffee, chocolate, leather, and pepper. I did also get raisin at times, especially at the beginning of the cigar (I felt like it was replaced by leather as the smoke progressed. It was a bit tight on the draw to open, but by the end of the first third it really opened up). You'll notice a tear in the wrapper - embarrassingly that was due to a mosquito buzzing me, and in my attempt to smash it I managed to clip the edge of my table with the cigar. I was lucky the damage wasn't worse! Sometimes I oddly compare cigars to cars as a personal rating system. Cigars, like cars, come in all price levels and the quality of the vehicle often varies widely from vehicle to vehicle. This cigar had some minor cosmetic damage, but smoked well and had consistent flavors from a well-regarded brand. I would rate this cigar as a Toyota Corolla - a cheap yet reliable option within a premier brand (considering Toyota also owns Lexus). Definitely not a Ferrari (Cohiba Siglo VI), but definitely not a broken-down clunker. (Traditionally-speaking I'd rate this cigar around a 87 - very solid but the ceiling is only so high on these).

  20. We did a study at my place to really dig into what was making the WFT/In Office experience more or less efficient. We are a small engineering firm and we started out with remote employees from the very beginning. The "gotta be in the office" crowd generally said that they needed to have face to face interactions and for remote people to be available at any time of the day to solve a problem. Which was interesting because we HEAVILY use Teams and our entire staff is online during the day. At the end of the day, that group of people were not willing to embrace the technology or means available to reach remote people. It wasn't that remote people were unavailable, it's that they were not willing to pick up the phone or do a video conference "because they should be here." I am pretty sure the majority of this debate is due to people's unwillingness to embrace change.

  30. Yes, I do enjoy having the end of my cigar coated in chemicals, just so I don't need to carry a lighter. I'm sure the smell of the burning chemicals will have no impact on the flavour of my cigar, nor will the mercury impact my health.
