Something a little different today. HVC is a NC brand I still enjoy. First half was a little peppery on the retro but it’s settled down in the last half. Nothing spectacular but a solid cigar while I was repotting some plants.

Romeo y Julieta Churchills ASO Nov 2016

If you've been following my 2019 smoking diary thus far, you'd know that the Romeo y Julieta Churchills has been a 'go-to' cigar for me ever since they turned a corner, so-to-speak, around 2016. Prior to this I had a terrible run of toasted tobacco blandness varieties for a few years and what this experience has taught me is to keep an open mind to cigars, especially in relation to preferred marcas and vitolas.

This was mainly berries and turkish delight with some cocoa and toasted tobacco. There was very little anise (or licorice) and overall it was quite good. I smoked it over 105 minutes and it kept my attention for that period, I never got bored with it. The final third didn't heat up or turn bitter, thankfully.

Cohiba Lancero possibly 2014? So I watched the videos and apparently I needed to try the Skinny Brunette @El Presidente. I even consulted @JohnS a skinny specialist. This has been in the humidor for a while. The only skinny I possess. So I am smoking her slow and talking nice and she is starting sweet with viscous curls of delicious smoke... and so it begins 

Finest smoke I have had in a very long time. 95 all day. Construction, burn, flavors all amazing. 110 min smoke. An absolute gem. Cheers

To me, most of the ELs aren’t similar to their marca.  Never have been.  But some of them are excellent in their own right.  But many of them aren’t, in my opinion.  The 1966 is one of the ones I like.

I’m not a transactional attorney.  What are their hours like?

Started slow and mild.  It was all wood until a few moments ago.  Finally got hit with a mouthful of sweet cocoa and undertones of coffee.  Burn, draw and construction all excellent.  The wrapper has a great sheen to it.  All the elements are there for a great cigar but the flavors are slow to materialize and fleeting when they do.  There’s a great creaminess to the smoke that coats the mouth. Hoping that sweet cocoa note returns.  

Its not a bad cigar but I prefer a little more robustness to the smoke.  It’s definitely under medium body for me at this stage

I almost cut one today but still so young at DIC 18, especially with the oily PSP wrapper. My patients is wearing thin though.

This one was a single from the FOH store basically ROTT. Solid ! Don’t be shy u can always buy more !!
