mkz Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Last night... celebrating the start of four weeks payed vacation... 1. Rafael Gonzales Panetelas Extra (07) - Mild cinnamon. Nice to open up with. 2. Partagas S:D N:4 (08) - Didnt open up seriously until the last third. Then it became sensational with dense sweetnes and chokolate. Thick smoke all the way. To bad the fun started so late... 3. Partagas Aristocrats (07) - This was the diamond of the evening. The binder was almost maduro-brown and the taste was intense baked bread, sweet chokolate and strong tobacco.
habone Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 RyJ Regalias de Londres...I bought these because they were cheap and no one ever talks about them. I think these are pretty good myself.

jawofboston Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Bookended the day with Montes. #4 in the AM with coffee. #1 in the PM with a bottle of Proseco.
mbrody Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Sorry about your loss Perfectform. My family is also losing our grandmother. Enjoy life to the fullest...which is why I just busted out a Mag 46.
Jakester Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Lots of cigars this weekend, with guests and on the golf course. The highs and lows were: LOW: 07 CoRo: Huge disappointment. So loosly rolled it was an embarrassment, and also weak flavors. Frustrating and at this price point quite a let-down. Highs: ABR 08 Siglo III: Will benefit greatly from time, but "the goods" are there and already an enjoyable smoke. Construction was immaculate. A pleasure. 2003 Punch PCdP: Had the box for nearly a year. Some rather underwhelming smokes in there, but these are taking a turn for the better and seem to be improving now with each sample. Today's was just excellent. These seem to be really coming alive now - an interesting and welcome turn of events.
elderboy02 Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Partagas Serie D #4 La Gloria Cubana MdO #2 Montecristo #2 Oliva Serie V Double Robusto
bassman Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Yesterday- Punch D'Oro UK RE. This is going to be a fantastic cigar in a couple years. Very rich & full bodied flavor. Good dtrength but not overpowering. A bit monolithic due to it's youth. Today- ERDM Tiano, year unknown. First one I've ever smoked & the only one I had. This was fairly mild, but had a wonderful sweetness to it. Mild Churchills usually lose my interest about half way though, but this was good to the nub. For my taste, much better than the LGC Tiano.
gerem Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Party Short with a glass of port....Great combo!!!!
android Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Today was a salute to fallen soldiers....SP corona, H. Upmann corona, Punch PP, HDM DD....RIP.
ucla695 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I smoked an '06 MC4 last night. It was very flavorful once I got the burn to settle down.
BigCle Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Had a Boli PC after lunch. I may see how my RAGs are smoking after dinner.
Torpo Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Last night I smoked an 02 MC#2. Beautiful construction, deep rich fllavors. Very nice cigar.
Froggy Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Today I had a SirWinnie 03, 2 Vegueros Marevas and one Soanes, and I'm attacking the last third of a fine R&J Cazadores right now. All were good and satisfying, + the weather was great and no wind + Good relation with better half. + fantastic sushi diner with Champagne. Verdict: great day!
bunburyist Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 had a Juan Lopez petit corona after lunch. Aside from the fact it's about a trillion degrees here, was a very pleaseant meal followed by a very pleasant smoke - nice and light. Drinking on Monday afternoons should be made law.
thechenman Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Enjoyed a Montecristo Sublime (EL 08) with a few friends on Friday night with a little Ron Zacapa Centenarios and some Woodford Reserve. The cigar lived up to its name as it was truly Sublime. The draw was a little on the loose side, but that's how I like it. Deep chocolate in color and lighter than one would expect for a cigar of this size. The smoke was extremely smooth, with the aroma of chocolate coming in and out. The ash held nicely (2 inches at one point) and was a mottled grey and white. The burn started razor sharp, but in the last 2/3 started to waver. Maybe it was due to the high humidity in the air (it was raining that night and we were smoking our on the front porch), it is brutal in New York with all the rain we have been getting. Anyway, the smoke was phenomenal. The Sublime was better paired with the Ron Zacapa than the Woodford Reserve, but both drinks in and of themselves was superb. Although the fresh baked oatmeal raisin cookies my wife brought out during the last 1/3 of our smoke, didn't pair well. Still, she went throught the trouble, so we had to indulge her.
elderboy02 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Vegueros Especial No.2 I didn't care for it much. I couldn't keep the last 3rd of it lit.
Azksig Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Vegueros Especial No.2I didn't care for it much. I couldn't keep the last 3rd of it lit. Those are definitely "love it or hate it" cigars. The one I had I did enjoy. It was from 01 I believe. I just had an HdM Churchill from 2000. I had heard that these were hit or miss. I hope the rest of the box was as good as this one.
