Popular Post JohnS Posted December 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 17, 2022 The fact that in 2022, despite the fact that as a species we are on the verge of fusion technology, we still have stupid and senseless on-going reliance on non-renewable energy such as natural gas and coal-burning electricity. Heck, how dumb is it to use plain old solar energy solutions for most household needs instead? But no, our Governments have to make things like purchase of household solar batteries and electric cars HARDER, not EASIER! Furthermore, despite having quantum computing it seems that an Australian bank that made $AU9.23 billion dollars profit last year (and I am a customer of for around 35 years I think) can't adjust my home loan until the 2nd of January next year. Don't you love wasting your time ringing these institutions just to be told you need to waste more time in ringing them back later, at their convenience? 7 3

Bigkahuna Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 Greedy business that stumble through an explanation of why they mark their products 50-100% more. Car dealers that add 50k to the price of a new car just because. Go F off. I will laugh when they close up shop in a few years after the supply returns and customers remember. Oh and Putin, Russia and China as well. But I think most of the world feels that way at this point. 3
Chas.Alpha Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 Honestly, 2022 didn't annoy me as much as most other years. HSA has decided that I am not worthy of their products, fuel prices are falling back to normal. I still don't know what a NFT is... My wife is a little more annoying than she was last year, but that will change. Or Else... 👿 1 1
Popular Post 99call Posted December 18, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 18, 2022 If this was Sesame Street ....2022 was brought to you by the word "DESTROY!". More so the years leading up to this. Sort of 2015 onwards. There seems to be so little creativity going on, there is an erosion of lands, of wildlife, of understanding, of public services, of respect, of human rights. Tim Berners-Lee and his aspiration for the WWW to be a place of creativity, collaboration etc he must look at it now and think "Jesus Christ what a mess!". The cat is out of the bag so to speak that discord and anger makes people interact with the web pages for longer, and is better for advertising. I for one am hoping that the Elon Musk debacle is the wave crashing moment, and people can form a little moment to go "Am I not tired of this shit? this aggression , this hate, this destruction". I see it in my nieces and nephews, they seem to interact in a much happier fashion on the internet, they do actually use it to make things, to collaborate, and to learn. I remember a time when you could use the internet as a reference tool for education, without the risk of everything you'd researched being utter nonsense. Hopefully we can get back to that somehow. If AI is a reality in the next few years, I hope they say - HAL? - Yes, Dave.... - Could you please go and delete all the horseshit lies that have been told since the birth of the internet? - Yes, Dave... - Oh and HAL could you please toast me some pop tarts? - Yes, Dave... Anyway, I hope that in 2023 people are tired of destruction, humiliation, hatred, and we can all focus on this idea from murdered MP Jo Cox "We all have much more in common, than the things which divide us". 8 2

Cigar Surgeon Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 Having to put in serious effort to give a business my money. The whole transaction process seems backwards these days. Your job is to have a product, in stock, that I would like to purchase. I also assume that your payment systems and cashiers are working in order to take my payment. More often than not I've turned to online purchasing for ridiculously small things because I just cannot stand how much of my personal time is being wasted on this. My most recent 'revenge purchase' example of this was going into Home Depot to buy something they confirmed on their website to be in stock and available. It was a bit of an odd item (unusual torx bits), so I wasn't too concerned there would be a run on them. Of course I waste 20 minutes to find out they don't have them. So I just went home, ordered them online, which forced the store to locate them and then ship them to me. 1 1

So I just went home, ordered them online, which forced the store to locate them and then ship them to me. Expand Along those same lines. I like supporting local business when I can, but damn...people are making it so difficult. I had a 10x21" piece of glass shatter in front of my fireplace. Held in place by two slide in clips. I call 10 local fireplace maintenance companies and chimney sweeps...not one of them would sell me a piece of glass...they required an installer to come out and slide it in place for 400usd. 2minutes and done...it has nothing to do with insurance or liability- they just "don't sell parts". So, I call 4 glass cutters, and they all say I have to buy a 6ft square sheet of glass then have them cut it to the tune of 900usd and then I'm left with the remainder of the glass. I spent 6 hours trying to get a sheet of tempered glass for my fireplace...I go online and spend 5 minutes on Google..4 minutes putting in the specifics and 65usd with shipping for a piece of ceramic fireplace glass shipped to my home in less than 48 hours... This type of thing has become so frequent in this area it is shameful..local businesses beg for you to shop with them then turnaround and gouge you because you were the only one stupid enough to actually try... Moral of the story for me...I'm not wasting my time anymore...online for anything specialty or not groceries. 6
