Popular Post Chas.Alpha Posted November 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 19, 2022 Wonderful people here. Really. No attitudes, not what we call "East Coast" attitudes, just a wonderful small town vibe. Then came the weekend cold front. OK, there's something that looks like ice on the lawn. There is frost on my wind shield. How do people live like this??? Smoking will be cut by a third and if this trend continues, I'll likely quit all together. The temps aren't supposed to get above 40F this weekend. Not fit for Man nor Beast... 1 4 1
Woody Hayes Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Sit back, hopefully you have a fireplace, build said fire, have a few and watch football. 1
Jackdani7401 Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Best stay south then. West Michigan is going to get 12” plus of snow before Monday. Buffalo is getting feet of snow as we speak. They’re predicting around 6 feet. Gotta love the lake effect. 1
HarveyBoulevard Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Gird your loins and put another layer on!! 1

Yes, the mountains. Take a weekend and drive the Blue Ridge Parkway through the North Carolina mountains and you will be very glad you moved there. I used to ride my motorcycle there during college and some of the fondest memories I have. 1

Nevrknow Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 You will see all 4 seasons in 1 day. 😂😂 2 1
BrightonCorgi Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Roads get icy like crazy there. We laugh in New England that people in NC cannot drive with any kind of snow or ice on the road, but that is unwarranted. We treat roads up here and I have experienced the icy roads in NC. No joke. I don't think winter tires would help much either. At least the Angus Bar's smoking room is heated. 1
BoliDan Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 40s? My god man. I don't go out in 20 or less, but 40s is just a sweatshirt and good to go. You will acclimate to faster than you think. 3

Wait until January/February when it can hit single digits and the teens. That's when you learn how to smoke a half Corona in 5-10 minutes! 🤣 1
Rhinoww Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 So the good news for you is that when deer season ends you can pick up your blaze orange insulated overalls and jacket on sale for next to nothing. Smoke on my brother. 1

cwrightthruya Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 I live in the area. In the winter there is normally a 1-2 hour window where it's sunny with no breeze and it makes it tolerable for a PC. From mid to late Dec through mid March I don't smoke unless we get a warm front. 1
madandana Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Reminds you of home? Did you forget? You should find a nice place down in Jacksonville I hear it’s a little warmer. 1
HamadAlawadi Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Sweet NC .. lived in Charlotte for 6 years for uni and now I’m back to the hottest country in the world (Kuwait). Best 6 years of my life gotta say. Oh and the weather is very moody, I believe you’ll experience all seasons more than 4 times a year 😂😂 2
JDoughty Posted yesterday at 01:58 AM Posted yesterday at 01:58 AM Waves from North Raleigh. I wish there was still a good open cigar lounge in the city! I usually hit up Pipe and Pint in Durham or Cigar Box in Cary.

There’s a place off Glenwood that’s super nice but $150/month to be a member seems unreasonable.
JDoughty Posted yesterday at 02:14 AM Posted yesterday at 02:14 AM Capitol Smoke has a couple of chairs, but I rarely go there because parking is straight up horrible downtown and that particular store leans pretty heavy on the vape and bong stuff. Havana Deluxe is a nice place to smoke and has a superb collection of top shelf and rare liquor, but they are squarely in the middle of the party district on Glenwood which I much prefer to avoid. Parking is horrendous, the noise and crowds are awful, and I don't trust leaving my vehicle anywhere near there with all the drunken idiots careening around. If you mean Virgin Cigars on a very different stretch of Glenwood, it is very nice but the annual membership model doesn't make sense for me personally because I don't smoke much if at all from mid-September through the end of December due to bowhunting. Also not in February if I'm participating in urban archery season. Gives my cigars more time to age and conserves the collection. I do break my cigar fast every so often during that time if I've just gotten a deer and I know I'm not going back out to my stands very soon, but there is a lot of decontaminating involved.
BrightonCorgi Posted yesterday at 12:06 PM Posted yesterday at 12:06 PM Been to Havana Deluxe once. Impressive liquor selection and neat vibe.
JPark3 Posted yesterday at 10:03 PM Posted yesterday at 10:03 PM Havana Phil's in Greensboro is my go to if I feel like going to a lounge, great cigar selection as well. 1

Never tried them, but I definitely will next time I'm headed that far up! Bit of a commute from Raleigh. Pipe and Pint has some other locations near there, don't they?
