Over to you good people. Which 4 would you choose :cigar:

"I have to say Rob that I am loving FOH. For a newb, the discovery of such an information resource + a  tolerant community makes this hobby so much more approachable. Question if you may.

If I were to ask you to provide 4 cigars that showcased the extremes of Habanos cigar flavours, what would those 4 cigars be?

I would argue there are no "extremes" of flavor. There are some number of general characteristics that are present in some degree or another in every cigar.

If you wanted to know what the "earthiest" cigar was or the "creamiest" cigar was there would be a different cigar for each, so certainly more than four.

So I would take issue with the premise of the question.

Bolivar Petit Corona

RyJ ex#4

Upmann Sir Winston

Montecristo Especial #1

I just realised how limited we are from just ten years or so ago in terms of recommendations for those unique smokes:

Bolivar Coronas Extra/Gold Medal

SLR DC/ Serie A

Sancho Panza Molinos

QdO Panetelas

I don't think you could get much more extreme between the SLR DC and a Bolivar CE

Nice challenge. Four very different smokes:

- Monte #2

- RyJ #4

- Partagas Lusitania

- Bolivar PC or RASS

I could smoke nothing but the first three. Included a ‘full bodied’ option to round it out.

There’s also nothing quite like an aged Cohiba, but unless Joe Email is a baller, it’s irrelevant.

An alternative proposal:

- Partagas D4

- JL #1

- Trinidad Fundadores

- Upman Mag 46

Extremes? Why is Guantanamera Cristales not on anyone's list?

I would recommend something short with less time commitment:  Monte no4, Boli PC, and PSD4 for the basics and one more for something completely different. Maybe the RyJ Ex4, JL2, or RASS? The last three aren't in my wheelhouse but they are very different from the first three, so it's a toss up between them.

This was a tough question to think about.

H. Upmann Half Corona
Punch Punch
Montecristo Edmundo
ERDM Demi Tasse

These four should be pretty accessible on a 24:24 and gives a good range of flavors in the Habanos lineup.

Too hard. Ha ha! Gp #1 - Monte2, Party 898, Punch Punch, Hoyo Epi2.  Gp#2 - BBF, Hoyo ConnieB, RYJ Churchill, Cohiba Robustos.  Gp#3 - D4, QdO 50, Trini Coloniales, Siglo4. Yes, I cheated.

Now you are tasting what Cuban tobacco can do.

Love the first 3. Never had #4. But definitely distinct differences in 1-3. A good variation there. Could likely make #4 a PSD4. That earth, cream and paprika spice is also quite unique.

For me the one Cuban cigar that stands out above all the rest and is undeniable in flavour . Partagas 898. Throw in Monte Petit Edmundo, Sancho Panza Belicoso , toss a coin for punch punch and epi 1

Less than a year into discovering the world of Cuban cigars and I can confidently vouch for the following 4 as my favorites (thus far):

- Trinidad Vigia

- Monte 2

- Partagas Maduro no.1

- Juan Lopez seleccion no.2

I cant wrap my head around the PSD4 (tried from OBM SEP 15): I find it too strong and the leathery notes too overpowering however I very much enjoy a D5..🤷‍♂️

The first Epi2 I smoked (managed to get only 1 stick from a box of MSU MAR 18) was amazing and I went full-on on Epi2s but never managed to get the same taste profile as the first one I tried (even if aged, properly stored etc..).. Not sure if I should be continuing this quest of finding the same experience I had with my very first Epi2..the closest was a petit Robusto..

Cheers
