LordAnubis Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Considering the drastic price hike, how long you think Trini will last? I mean Cohiba has the following to demand any price, but i've not known Trinidad to have anywhere near the following with the high end buyers to be able to support a price hike. I'm predicting the brand will be dead within 3 years due to lack of sales. What do you reckon?
Popular Post La_Tigre Posted May 11, 2022 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2022 Saying 5-10 simply based upon Habanos inability to act on anything in a timely manner. 1 1 8
MrBirdman Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 By dead do you mean out of production entirely or repositioned within the market? I agree that, absent artificial scarcity, they can’t support these prices long term. But I doubt they’d delete the entire marca anytime soon. 1
benfica_77 Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Me being optimistic is that Habanos SA realize their mistake when sales plummet in 2-3 years and they change their plan. 2

Potentially rebranding to a shiny new red and gold band and varnished gold embossed box will elevate it's appeal to high end markets. Maybe it needs a 4th band 😂 1
gustavehenne Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Not long. I just saw the new prices for Trinidad Reyes - $872. For the Reyes. People may have deep pockets but they aren't crazy. 3 5

Hoepssa Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 One EL with Trinidad band's' can solve every problems mentioned. Trini will be safe.

Are there enough who smoke lots of cigars to support this nonsense? I guess we’ll find out. I suspect artificial scarcity is the most likely outcome of all this, if Cuba is able to get production anywhere close to pre-COVID levels If anyone is willing to pay that price on BR I’ll gladly sell them all my Reyes without a moment’s regret!! 3

I'm not talking about the ultra-high net worths in the 0.001% but the vast majority of people who could spend it but will reach for better options. I love a Trinidad Reyes but I can easily swap it out for something far cheaper that will please me just as much. I like Trinidad, I don't love Trinidad. I think they will have issues with that. Trinidad isn't Cohiba. 7
Miguel Gracias Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 I visited habanos specialist yesterday, and it had a box of fundi left. The lady said it was a $2400 usd... I had to cry and leave it there. I won't be able to afford a $100 stick. 4

Islandboy Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 I don’t think the new pricing has really sunk in to my brain yet, the reality being that it’s unlikely I’ll ever buy Cohiba or Trinidad again, but I’ll take a La Trova or Esmeralda over a Siglo VI or CoRo most any day. So I voted for the long haul...it just won’t be me making that happen. 4

I got a box of La Trova early this year, and it was a mind blowing cigar. I tried singles of Fundi, Emeralda, Topes, Reyes and Coloniales as well, and I regret not stocking them... I will visit Spain, Andorra and Cuba to see how they are pricing those this and next year.
Popular Post El Presidente Posted May 11, 2022 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2022 Trini is going nowhere They will drop the Reyes and anything else that doesn't move. They will introduce new lines. If necessary that will pivot and reposition. 8 1
RDB Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Reyes looks like an outlier to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Vigia goes too. But the brand as a whole? Obviously a winner. 1

BrightonCorgi Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 A better thread would be "what is the next marca Habanos will drop?" or "which of the newer marcas has been the least successful?"
Popular Post Hammer Smokin' Posted May 11, 2022 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2022 You don't trust high end buyers to sustain the product? The simple fact that the price is increasing means it'll become more important to rich people. Once the peasants can't afford something, it makes it even more attractive to rich folk. Increasing the price to an unsustainable level will only make it more in demand to those who don't care about money. Bank on it. 11

Plus they can revamp interest in the brand, talk up its history, all in time to release a new 56 rg double bander.
Kaptain Karl Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 I'm not confident this move is going to work out all that well for HSA. There will be a mad rush initially, but they're going to have to sustain demand year in and year out. I just dont see it happening. 4
