NW_Oregon Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 What's the worst box of cubans your sitting on right now? Mine are the vegueros mananitas from 2018, I lost the little bottom card from the tins that had the factory code unfortunately. But these things are truly horrific, every stick had soft spots, the feet on most sticks are cut at every angle but straight. Both tins have a strong hand soap or floral perfume odor and the bands are even miss printed. It's a damn shame the RMU Oct 16 box I had before these were truely some great sticks. 2 1

Bri Fi Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Montecristo No.2 MEG SEP 15. no flavor and draw is very tight. Almost unsmokable even with a perfect draw 1
Riverstyx Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Great question. I’d have to think about it a little bit but I smoked a ‘17 talisman last week that’s hands down the worst cigar I’ve had in years. Would say it’s fake even, but I got it from our host so I know that’s not true. I tried to find redeeming qualities but it was absolutely awful no matter the price. runner up: every cigar I’ve had out of a fonseca #1 box. (‘16 box; smoked 12 including one recently. All awful.)
Bri Fi Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 @Riverstyx I almost said Fonseca no 1. I got a Sox pack of no 1s from 2019 that were sublime. I tried buying a couple boxes of 2019s and ended up with some 2018s that taste like I’m smoking an old woman’s night gown. Way too floral and perfume-y 1 2
Glass Half Full Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 For me this is an easy one: It's a Cab of 25(ugh!) of Connie A's Box ID: BRE Ago 2018. Bought them in Cuba in December 2018. Waited for three years to try them, only to find that every other one seems to be plugged and those that aren't are one dimensional. Surely hate to be "Glass Half Empty" ...but for those: that's a fact, Jack. If you can avoid that box code, please do. Sad but true ...worst part is I can't bear to throw the darned things out. I keep holding out hope, ...And I'd feel bad gifting them because they might perform just as bad for others. What to do with badly rolled cigars. (Maybe a bonfire

(Maybe a bonfire We’re seriously considering buying an ‘80’s High School Band Director’s type pipe and cutting these demons up. Today we tried to save a Siglo II (bought a CL 6er that have all been tent pegs thus far) and a Monte Especial from a trade. Even after months resting at 58 rh, just ended up with tobacco straws with a perfecdraw sized suckhole. Blecchhhh. 3
yvr Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 A 15 count cardboard pack of 2015 HdM Petit Robustos, coded EAG. Bland and earthy (dirt rather). Any flavour that was there has likely soaked into the cardboard, which smells great! Maybe I should roll that up and smoke it instead. 🤓 1 2

griller Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Unfortunately I have a box of Trinidad Reyes (MUP OCT 19) that is in a "sick" phase right now. Got the box this past January, tried one that sat in the 'dor for a month, then dry boxed a week. Tasted acrid & very young, and pitched it after 20 minutes. Then lit up another one a week ago (also dry boxed a week) and got the exact same experience, and again had to pitch it after 15 minutes this time. Going to leave this box alone until Thanksgiving & hope it comes around. 1

I can't say for sure; however, I have had several Magnum 54s, Royal Robustos and Edmundos -- all from 2018 -- that were wonderful. (...Just that darn box of Ago 2018 Connie A's Avoid that one for sure.)
SansSin Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Partagas Maduro No.1 RUM JUN 19 hoping they get better with age but they are the only box of cubans i have that i can't stand and never even consider smoking
smbauerllc Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 I'm actually thankful for that I can't buy boxes as I don't have any way to store them, so I'm never stuck with more than a couple of anything if I don't like it, which doesn't happen often anyway. Another bonus to buying only multiple singles or 3,4 and 5 packs of anything Partagas Maduro No.1 RUM JUN 19 hoping they get better with age but they are the only box of cubans i have that i can't stand and never even consider smoking I love the Maduro no.1's actually.@sanssin When I get my july pension I would happily buy a few from you if you are looking to get rid of them. I have been unable to find any vendors with singles in stock for months now Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
BrightonCorgi Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Don't have a worst box, but boxes of vitolas I am not into smoking as much. All the worst boxes have been smoked off.
KCCubano Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Got a few. 00 Punch DC. All plugged, 06 SP Corona all plugged. Perfecdraw didnt help either. 50 Cab of Mag 50 when they were available. I would trade for a carton of Pall Mall non filter cigarettes as thats the flavor profile.
Chibearsv Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Monte No 1 box I've got is almost entirely plugged. They feel like they've got a rock in the middle of most of them. Every time I pull one, I'm hoping it's open but none so far. I've cut them in half to try to salvage anything but usually I just get pissed off and toss them. It's the only box of Monte 1's I've had and I would have a really hard time deciding to buy another.

I don't think I will ever be able to bring myself to pay for another CoLa. 1 5

smbauerllc Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Sucks to see so many people stuck with an entire bad box for as much as they cost. Makes me glad I don't have anywhere to store boxes. It would really suck to be stuck with a $400+ entire bad box. 7 hours ago, Walter19 said: I'm on the same boat with you regarding the Epi2s. Interesting as I love the Epi2'S and find them plenty flavorful and pretty tasty 16 hours ago, NW_Oregon said: crazy, one of the best cigars in my humidor is a 15 carboard pack of 2020 HdM petit robustos, its the cigar that changed my mind about HdM after having a ton of really terrible Epi2s from a bunch of different boxes. I suspect it's the cardboard packaging from these 3 packs that robbed the flavour from my 2015's. After this experience, I store everything either loose in the humidor or in another SLB.

Bad cigars are like bad anything: at best a total waste of time and sometimes money. That said, there's also the wonder of the perfect cigar -- the one that you had low expectations for; you only lit it because it had been aging awhile and "what the heck?" ...and then "Wow!" I can live with life's disappointments (especially when they're as minor as simply a bad cigar). But what I love are life's positive surprises, which can come in all kinds of vitolas If it's plugged, try the perfect draw. If it's still not good, don't waste your time! Throw it out. (And many thanks to FOH for threads such as this to help us all miss those potholes). ...But light another. Sometimes the contrast of blah to excellent is half of the fun. My 2 cents. Thx. 3

(Maybe a bonfire Having gone through a good amount of Connie A' s, this may sound counterintuitive and against the current 58-65 RH consensus but I suggest to try and wetbox a couple and to put them at a RH of 70 and let them get more humidity than usual. I found this unplugged all of them and brought back all the aromatic flavors. Don't give up on them yet 😅 1
