I realize that everything is subjective and I apologize if this info is readily available.  I have never had a Cohiba Siglo VI. I have a 3 Carton pack of Tubos procured from our host, resting for 8 months with a box date of December 2019. I really want to smoke 1 for my birthday next week. Am I wasting it or 8 months resting for a 2019 tubo should be good to go?

Go for it. Then smoke the next on your birthday the following year

This is a good idea.

Great question. I picked up the same three pack when you did. Just sent in the last tuition check for my son’s college education. Was thinking about a stick to smoke once the weather breaks a bit to celebrate. Might fire up one of these as well. Curious to hear your review

Smoke, enjoy & remember how it tastes/smokes.

When you have one with a few more years age you can compare. Cohibas age exceptionally well!

It should be fine.  Personally, I would take it out of the tube and let it sit in the humidor without the tube until your birthday.  But that's just me.

An excellent point here.

A buddy of mine bought me one of those RH probe gadgets. Fun to see the relative rh of the sticks that I’m smoking. Was curious to confirm that the tubos tend to have a much higher rh than other Cubans when shipped and that they stay in the low 70’s even after a long time in a 65/65 environment. My experimentation was with a box of Monte Petit Tubos that I’m half of the way through, but I also had a limited similar experience with Medio Siglo A/T. Takes a week plus/minus to get to 65.
the point being that a week uncovered in your humidor will bring the stick down to your regular rh, which I’m guessing is more conducive to smoking than where I’m betting the rh is right now.

Smoke one for sure. I'd put it, out of it's tube, in my desk top at 60-62 RH until the big day.

@SigmundChurchill - in your experience with Siglo VI tubos, and your de-tubing technique, does that impact the weight of the cigar over the few days it’s resting naked...if you know what I mean?

Also, do you ever retrieval issues with tubo cigars?  Sometimes they’re just bitch to get back out.  Maybe it’s just me though.

I just tap them out.

For the record, Brian was referring to a story I once told him about a guy that we brought in for surgery to retrieve a cigar tube that was stuck in his rectum.
The reference went right over my head.

Was the cigar still in the tube? If so I’m guessing Barnyard would be an appropriate description

BTW, how'd it smoke?

You tell me, Rob.  It's the cigar I sent you for your birthday last year.

I'm a bit of a re-gifter.
