Popular Post ElJavi76
Your Regular Production Cigar of the Year: HdM San Juan... This is on sheer volume. I've probably smoked thru 2 boxes this year. Steady Eddie's! Have had ok ones but never a bad one. Your Specialty Production Cigar of the Year: Tie: Diplomatico Diputados / Sancho Panza Gran Quixote both Belux Regionals. The dips are creamy and custardy and the SP is a chocolate dream, hold the driftwood. Your Best New Release: Trinidad Esmeralda... Nuff said! Your Most Improved: Juan Lopez Selección No 1... Not because they weren't good but just cause I finally turned my attention to them and they're now in rotation. Your Mr. Dependable Award: Partagás D4... It never let's me down. When I'm not sure what I wanna smoke I can turn to it and it performs. I have to add an honorable mention to the JL2s. Same format. Same result. Work horses that just do it for me every single time I reach for them. Cheers! Looking forward to reading these. ~elJavi
Popular Post JohnS
Your Regular Production Cigar of the Year (2017 - 2020 production). Trinidad Esmeralda. The Trinidad 50th Anniversary regular production releases in late 2019 have all been exemplary and the impact of the Trinidad Esmeralda is similar to the introduction of the Cohiba Siglo VI in late 2002/early to mid 2003. Your Specialty Production Cigar of the Year (2017 - 2020 production). Trinidad La Trova LCDH Again, they've been consistent in delivering premium satisfaction and class. A great addition to the LCDH program. Your Best New Release (2019/2020 production ) Punch Short de Punch It's difficult to out-perform the aforementioned Trinidad 50th Anniversary releases (i.e. the Esmeralda, Media Luna and Topes) but when you factor in the price, the Punch Short de Punch is amazing value. Your Most Improved (2017 - 2020 production) Partagas Maduro No.1 Perhaps the regular production additions of the Partagas Maduro No.2 and No.3 has added to its positive appraisal in recent times, but when this cigar was released in 2015 I have to admit that I didn't give it much serious thought. I can longer state that with the outstanding quality of recent Partagas Maduro No.1 stock. Your Mr. Dependable Award (2017-2020 production) Romeo y Julieta Petit Royales Day in, day out these simply deliver in satisfaction over 30 to 35 minutes and have yet to let me down on construction and/or flavour. 10

Monte 2 Your Specialty Production Cigar of the Year (2017 - 2020 production). La Trova. Yet to try the supremos which looks and sounds promising, will have it next week Your Best New Release (2019/2020 production ) Media Luna. I actually think the Topes is a better tasting smoke but the rg makes it tough. Also consistently heard that the esmeralda is even better but haven't had a chance to try. Your Most Improved (2017 - 2020 production) Monte 2. More like I re-noticed it so it's firmly in my rotation now. Your Mr. Dependable Award (2017-2020 production) Hdm no2. Popular Post westg
Regular Production Cigar of the Year R&J Wide Churchill . Can't believe it, smoked so many over multiple box codes. Ginger chocolate and a little spice, wrapper and construction just delightful Specialty Production Cigar of the Year. Cabs of 50 would be a bonus Your Most Improved. Easy , a double whammy for the R&J Wide Churchill. I had given up on them . Popular Post joshhooper7
Your Regular Production Cigar of the Year (2017 - 2020 production). Rio Seco, hands down. From cigar to cigar the consistency was phenomenal and the burn and draw was never a let down. Mild to medium, woody, creamy, a touch of ginger spice to flesh it out... might smoke one today! Your Specialty Production Cigar of the Year (2017 - 2020 production). This one is a bit tougher as I love the punch 8-9-8 dearly, snagged 5 boxes and I’m thinking two more are in order but... I smoked a Supremos last night... I have two boxes but I think I need 20. That cigar... my cigar of the year and it’s not even close. MAYBE Davidoff Year of the Ox will come close, we will see. Rich, decadent smoke. Chocolate from first puff to last. Excellent draw and burn. Creamy, leather, spice and a bread note that made the chocolate taste like chocolate filled croissants. This is a SERIOUS cigar. I cannot wait to get my hands on some more. Your Best New Release (2019/2020 production ) I haven’t tried any of the new releases yet, I’m a sucker for the old reliables. Your Most Improved (2017 - 2020 production) Por Larranaga Petit Corona. My 16’ box is really hitting its stride. My go to cigar when I’m outside grilling. Rich, medium+ in body. Toasty tobacco, a brown sugar sweetness and coffee. Your Mr. Dependable Award (2017-2020 production) Bolivar Belicoso Fino. One of my all time favorites. Now that I’m writing this I’m realizing I haven’t bought a box since 2017 and I’m down to 7, certainly need to rectify that! Full bodied. Oaky, rich dense tobacco flavor. El Prez refers to it as a Guinness note and I couldn’t agree more, I’ve always thought it had flavors of strong stout and I typically pair it with a barrel aged porter/stout and the marriage is magnificent.
Popular Post MrBirdman
My Regular Production Cigar of the Year Siglo III If I had to choose my favorite stick which still retails for under $20, this is the easy winner. If abiding my regular caveat that these need some age, Siglo III's regularly delivers experiences as memorable as more expensive smokes. I have smoked a lot of 2017 examples lately - they're not only the essence of flavor and class, they're going to continue improving for years. Given the overall improvement in quality across lines in 2019/20, I'm excited to see if/how much better these can get. I observed in a past review that there had not (to that point) been a single box of Siglo III's put up on Bond Roberts. And rightly so - of my aged/to be aged cigars, these are the ones I could never imagine myself selling. My Specialty Production Cigar of the Year Punch 8-9-8 The Dalia is probably my favorite vitola, and while I'm not much for the RE's and LE's, the Punch 898 truly delivers. My examples are only just hitting a year old, and yet they've never gotten hot even smoking down to the nub. That's a remarkable accomplishment in itself, and especially for the format. And - by the standards of 2020 prices - it's as close to a value as one can find in higher end smokes (RE's, Cohiba, LE's, etc.). My Best New Release Punch Short de Punch Esmeralda would be my #1B since they're essentially tied - but if forced to choose one I'd choose the Short de Punch b/c it's a better value. My Most Improved Coloniales There is still a little inconsistency remaining in Coloniales production, but the overall quality has increased by leaps and bounds over the past 18 months. It's gotten overshadowed by all of the great new Trinidad releases, but the Coloniales is just as much a beneficiary of the "Trinidad Renaissance." It's ascended to the best petite corona (perhaps excepting well-aged PLPC's), and can still be had at reasonable prices - by today's standards, at least. My Mr. Dependable Award Montecristo Especiales No. 2 This is a vitola that requires attention but, week in week out when I'm looking for an intense distillation of everything Montecristo, this consistently delivers.
Popular Post Andy04
The cigar most reflective of 2020 is a plugged JLP cazadores with a candela wrapper stored at 80/80. 1
Tstew75
Your Regular Production Cigar of the Year (2017 - 2020 production). Cohiba Robusto. After a shaky 16/early 17, these came raging back to life in late 17/18/19. Some of the prettiest wrappers I've ever seen (especially Summer 19 El Laguito examples). Despite the price, I'm constantly blown away by the consistency of the creamy tones juxtaposed with the silent power of these. Only Cuba can roll this magic. Your Specialty Production Cigar of the Year (2017 - 2020 production). La Gloria Cubana Orgullosos. What dreams & unicorn tears are made of, all wrapped in the glorious 109 format. Your Best New Release (2019/2020 production ) No notable cigars, IMO. Honorable (bending the rules) mention, Trinidad La Trova. While technically a late 17 release, this gave the marca a big dog vitola & are so fun to smoke. 18/19 examples have been gorgeous. Your Most Improved (2017 - 2020 production) Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 1. The 18/19s have blown me away (particularly La Corona boxes), and I'm a believer now...can't stop smoking them. Coronas Gordas for life. Your Mr. Dependable Award (2017-2020 production) Por Larranga Petite Coronas. As as I always say, you can't have too many cabs of these. Dense young, and ages as good as any CC at any price. Caramel dreams.

Rhinoww
Fascinating thread for sure. While I have been smoking 5 or so a week since the pandemic hit, I don’t know that I have covered enough ground over the past several years to make a meaningful comment. One observation for me is that components outside of the cigar can influence the experience everything from the desire/expectations to food/weather etc. With that said, what do I instinctively grab when I’m undecided for a cigar I know I will enjoy (Mr Reliable). It’s a crowded field : BBF; BPC, JL2, MAG46, Epi 1. I just don’t know if I will ever have enough of these in my collection. And for those 30 min breaks, I have a box of 17 RASC that are on fire. While there are a few notable absences given high market demand here and elsewhere, I was interested to note the lack/limited of Quai D 50 call outs. Just ordered my first box so I may soon find out ?

Lol Agreed on the QD50. I thought I was lucky to grab a 10 box a few months ago given the hype, but on 24:24 just 2 days ago they did not sell out at all, even with a 2 box deal. dshot
Your Regular Production Cigar of the Year (2017 - 2020 production). Montecristo #2 Your Specialty Production Cigar of the Year (2017 - 2020 production). Ramon Allones Superiores. These have all been good to me as well this year. My 18' La Trova's are good but got lighter as they aged. RAS has been great every time. Your Best New Release (2019/2020 production ) N/A - I have nothing new from this year. I didn't see the need. Your Most Improved (2017 - 2020 production) Montecristo #2. The one's that I had that where pre 2017 to the fresh 19' boxes I have been smoking have been way better. I'd say the biggest improvement is fuller body and not some so muted. I've been really enjoying these. Your Mr. Dependable Award (2017-2020 production) Tie Juan Lopez No. 1 / RG Perlas - 99% of these two have been great this year.
