El Presidente Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 We are talking flavour (not strength). Rich glorious flavour. Topic of discussion on the deck recently with a surprising winner. Let's increase the sample size We were/are talking about post 2015 -2019 Cohiba. We have not included Behike nor Mad 5 series. You can pick 2 in order to make it easier
99call Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Early days, but I love the fact the Medio Siglo and the Piramides Extra are doing well, only two Cohiba worth a damn in my book. the rest are way too limp wristed
BoliDan Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Haven't had the entire list, but medio siglo slightly edges over CoRo, Siglos and Esplendidos in terms of "flavorsome" to me. HSA means business with these Short Robusto lines.
prodigy Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I'm in tapatalk, so I'm not sure if I'm missing the lists or something. However, the siglo 1 gets my vote. When they are on, they are just so jam packed with flavor!Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
TheFullMontecristo Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 pound for pound I would say the Cohiba shorts should be in the running as well.
NSXCIGAR Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Exquisitos and when on, Lanceros. I've also had some very flavorsome Siglo I.
lovethehaze Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Sig IV Is always money and has evolution. Pound for pound I like these
Wookie Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 lately I've become less enchanted with cohibas. I remember first tasting them mid late 1990s and being blown away. The Esplendido in particular for me. I still love them, plus the piramides, VI, and I smoke the robusto as well. Own the Maduros too. But thinking about the inability of people to blind taste CCs I was struck by how close the NC people are getting to replicating the cohiba flavor. I consider cohiba to be a primarily savory smoke, quite dry in wine parlance. Well the NC guys are using criollo 99 and corojo 98 to produce stuff that is approximating the CC cohiba mystique. I found it interesting that cigar aficionado gave the Warped 1988 #3 position and CoRo #4. There is a similarity there. Has anyone had this experience or are these grounds 'FOH' ostracism?
SigmundChurchill Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 I said VI and Medio Siglo. I haven’t had a Lancero in several years, but I am thinking about that being my next Cohiba purchase.
anjimj Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Siglio IV and espys for me. Blown away everytime.
NSXCIGAR Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 I have to echo the recent video review from El Pres & Ken--the few recent Siglo VI I've sampled this year weren't close to their past greatness. Only because we're talking about recent production, I'd have to leave the Siglo VI out. Past Siglo VI--right up there in terms of substance and flavor.
NSXCIGAR Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 No votes for the Siglo I...are these just crap lately? Haven't had one all year. Siglo I is usually a little beast of flavor. Arguably the best Siglo until the VI. 1
Thirds Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Now I’m regretting passing on the Medio Siglo PSP this week.
Derboesekoenig Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 I don't like this post because every single one of us on here has very different tastes, quality can vary dramatically from box to box, code to code, month to month, you get the idea. Last year I loved Esplendido, robusto, CCE, and lanceros. This year, I keep going for the Siglo line. But I've never been a huge fan of Cohiba regardless. Every once in awhile. Medio Siglo are strong power bombs of flavor, and i've had at least 5 Siglo 1s in the last month alone, but Siglo III and V I prefer
CampDelta369 Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Esplendido is the ONLY Cohiba form 2019 i cut this year. UAO MAR 19? Rich is the word i would use. Glorious probably by next year. I have NO idea when to cut that 2019 UAO Pyramid Extra Tubos from last month, which was definitely Rich $$$. But honestly i love Partagas Shorts, PLMC. BBF and many other reasonably priced marcas so its no surprise Cohiba makes about only 3% of my humidor. With that being said, a 2014 CoLa was the best cigar i had in a decade!? Just incredible. So no doubt i will try more of this marcas in the next few years. 1
nKostyan Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 If Cohiba obeys the laws of creating a Cuban blends, then it must be Lancero and Medio Siglo. My personal experience: Lancero and Siglo1 can be very powerfully, Medio Siglo has not tried yet
Chibearsv Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 I've only recently tried the CoRo and it was from 2017 - very flavorful cigar. I really enjoy Esplendidos and Siglo VI in general but that little Robusto was a surprise.
The Squiggler Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Whoops, only picked one--Medio siglo. I'd probably reach for siglo ii for my second choice, but not necessarily because it's more flavoursome than a CoRo or esplendido, but because I like the package... I dig Cohiba Shorts as well for package/flavor ratio.
CptGoodTimes Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Voted for a few. Love a great CoRo. ‘19 Espy & SigIV are damn good right now. Had some ‘08 CCE that were fabulous. I had a PE back in ‘17 that was excellent. Just hard to find those these days, even on the aftermarket (must be b/c they are too good). I’m waiting on my first box of Medio Sigs that are also coming with quite the rep. As for the others, haven’t had the pleasure boys.
joeypots Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 I voted for the Siglo IV and the CORO because that's what I've been smoking lately. I think this type of what's the best threads are fun but I decided a while ago it comes down to the individual box. That said, I love Cohiba and it's the marca I age the longest before I crack the box. I have a few old Esplendiidos that are still going strong. The older Siglo VI can be unbelievable. They've also gotten so expensive that I've slowed down buying them. 1
