Popular Post El Presidente Posted April 7, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 7, 2019 Elitest drivel. Why do these type of vids always show a world of suits...... So distant from the real cigar world. 3 1 1
Popular Post Bram Smoker Posted April 7, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 7, 2019 Based on the rings on their fingers they don't have an issue with dry cleaning those suits every single time they wear them while smoking. Since I'm not made of money, I'll keep my suits away from the smoke so I can wear them again without smelling like cigar smoke. Word of advice gents, take the suit off prior to smoking, then take the money you save on dry cleaning and spend it on 24:24 boxes. 7 1
Popular Post 99call Posted April 7, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 7, 2019 Jesus Christ!!! these guys really like to light their cigars don't they?. why not just throw them in a volcano, and wait for the fumes to rise 3 8
tigger Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 I'm curious what the editor was thinking cutting from, "we have cigars from $14 to $250 (or whatever the top end was)," to "...you can smoke...very inexpensive cigars." Granted, they're talking about single cigars in New York City, but the most expensive of my "go tos" is under 14 bucks apiece by the box. And it's a darn fine smoke.

Hmm... I guess there's a bum for every seat. I don't know the context of the vid (cnn money), but I imagine if a bunch of lawyers, bankers, etc were meeting up after work, they'd probably still be wearing suits. I also imagine that the cigar world, both real and how we each imagine it, has many facets. I guess better they're promoting cigars versus rallying against them. Do they wear suits at the Habanos festivals? How do they promote their cigars? Whatevs..... 1
Popular Post PigFish Posted April 7, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 7, 2019 First... CNN is not a source of news, MHO. Second, this is where all this double banded shiny box crap is aimed. If the more common view of cigars is based around it as a luxury product (verses my view as a basic food group) this is where the pandering is aimed. I just saw a thread about a rise in price of Habanos. Who is that aimed at? The BigHillbilly series! Who is that aimed at? The Els, the RE, the collector crap... who is it aimed at? Certainly not the red beans and rice crowd! Certainly not me! I might say the next time one suggest that cigars are a luxury product and promotes that mindset, they spend some time on this video watching what they are promoting. Yes indeedee baby, cigars are right up there with diamond cluster, faux Super Bowl rings! One does not go without the other! What is gonna' attract these guys? A delicate bandless, mid or slender ring cigar in a dull cab, or 1/3 cigar length embossed bold, gold band around a 55+ RG in a 'pretty' 10x box? This is who HSA wants! They certainly don't pander to me!!! -the Pig 14 1
CaptainQuintero Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 You always know that a video with elevator music is going to end up trying to portray a certain lifestyle.. Good to see a different side of things though, it's not the cigar community I recognise entirely 1

TheGipper Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 This appears to be Club Macanudo in New York City. The suits are explained by: 1) this is NYC, and 2) NYC Club Macanudo has a dress code. 1
cigcars Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 *At the end of the video I had to remark to myself that there were no "Habanas" among the smokes: But then, the fact that the first cigar band displayed was from a Las Cabrillas stunned me - WHO smokes those The first one I tried back in my beginning of getting into this hobby I tried one - one. I said, "Never again." Some Don Tomas` I've had in past years were actually superb IMHO. However - it does seem like sacrilege to ever talk about cigar smoking and class without including something from Cuba.
rcarlson Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 This plays to a stereotype for many. I'm a suit, and rarely wear one when I'm at any club. Stinks 'em up bad -- and come on. Not comfortable. But I also know the fat Tarantino type in the video that populate some of the places intown, always in the financial districts where dry aged steaks are within arm's reach. They could've done better with this subject though. But hey, usual lazy CNN filler.

Two things about this video. First this seems like a fluff piece that was done because someone at CNN knows the Owner/Manager of Club Macanudo. Secondly I listen to a podcast and the person that runs the podcast always says if you ever wonder how wrong the media is all the time wait until they do a piece on you. 1
Popular Post Fatshotbud Posted April 8, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 8, 2019 Oh crap - I'm not worthy to smoke CIGARS I did get a new sticker for the truck though!Sent from my KYOCERA-E6560 using Tapatalk 5
Piligrim Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 I normally wear suits for the big events, like Habanos festival or our national Habanos Day. the rest of the time I wear something casual.
Cubadust Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Not as bad as I thought it would be if you just listen to what is said and block out the elevator music. As long as you enjoy a cigar I don't care how you dress. 1
