  1. It has been a while since I have done a review. When I saw it was Pyramid/Torpedo I knew I had to do one. When I started I smoked NC cigars and one of my favorite cigars was a Onyx pyramid. I forget the number (they used to use 3 digit numbers for their cigars before rebranding to names). I finally got into CC's when my friend badgered me into ordering some. My first order was from our esteemed host and included a box of Monte No. 2's which are long gone. They became one of my favorite CC to smoke. However, lately I have not smoked one in a while mainly because I don't make time to smoke one. I paired this Monte No. 2 with an espresso milk stout. Later in the smoke I also paired it with Buffalo Trace bourbon. I clipped the end and it was the perfect draw just the right amount of resistance. I got notes of sweet tobacco. First Third. Like most cigars after the initial light I get vegetal. Once it got going I got notes of light wood, coffee, and cocoa. Second third it starts to really get going and I get coffee and milk chocolate. Final third similar notes but with coffee and cocoa. I was surprised how even towards the end it didn't get strong. Not until I almost burnt my fingers did it get strong. This cigar reminded me to definitely make time for some longer smoking cigars. It burned so well all the way to the end. I was surprised that it never went out even after a couple of times of setting it down for a bit. I am going to give this cigar a 98.
  2. Same here. I have friends that love cigars that I share one with occasionally. If they want some past that I sell cigars to them for what I paid for them. With that said I did mention to my one friend he is going to have to pick other cigars besides a Coro. He understands since they cost a $50 bill plus some change to replace one. As an aside I absolutely shocked at the 5 pack price on the Siglo III's from the 24:24 Today and the weekend.
  3. My friend begged me to go in on some CC with him in 2018. I downloaded someones spreadsheet to track your cigar purchases it has a column that calculates years and months on the cigars. I was kinda shocked when I scrolled to bottom and saw the total on how much I had spent. Now I am thinking I am glad I spent that much so I will have cigars to smoke through the current supply issues. Still kicking myself for not buying a box of Fundadores.
  4. Very cool. What is the purpose of the mouth of the dragon? Hammer.
  5. I ticked up just a little bit. I didn't stay on track very well in April but I am definitely going to keep going even though this competition is over.
  6. Does this apply to Acid cigars? It sounds like it does. That will kill off an entire line of cigars at Drew Estate.
  7. I kept meaning to grab a box then covid hit and they went from scarce to hens teeth scarce. I need some more Punch Punch but keep missing them. Hopefully I can grab a box of HQ/PSP.
  8. I like the couple I have smoked I need to smoke more of them to really put my finger on them.
  9. My last box of Monte #4's were absolutely cocoa bombs. They even gave you that feeling of your mouth being dry.
  10. I didn't lose a lot but every little bit helps. Now for the big push until May. My weigh in weight is 131.9kg
  11. My weigh in is 133.4kg. I am glad I lost some weight but I should have lost more. I will work on staying on track meal wise and exercising more.
  12. I have not smoked very many of these from this box the last one was last year and was pretty good. The title of this review should definitely be mistakes were made. I just pulled a 3d print off my printer and decided it was a nice day so I would smoke a cigar and do a review. I hadn't smoked one of these in a while. I paired it with a beer a friend gave me which is a Cherries Jubelale from Deschutes Brewery. I forgot to do a cold draw. 1st third the draw was pretty tight but opened up a bit after using my perfect draw. Right after first light I get vegetal notes then later on tobacco with some hints of cherry. I feel like my pallet has been off lately. I know what rosewater smells like but I am not sure I ever get that note in a cigar. The burn and ash was amazing. I will say after taking the first sip of my beer it totally wrecked my palate though. I love cherry beers my favorite being Bell's Cherry Stout especially their bourbon barrel aged version. That beer paired well with several cigars I have smoked. This beer had the tart cherry but there so much tart and almost a pithy taste. I should have drank it fast and switched to something else but alas I didn't. 2nd third and the draw opened up a little more not perfect but definitely acceptable. I am still getting notes of cherry but now some chocolate. The flavors were still being overshadowed by the beer though. It still is burning excellent. Final 3rd. Same flavors as the second third cherry and chocolate. I am also starting to get a little spice. Even though I had finished the beer already my palate is still wrecked. I decide to try to slide the band off and tear the wrapper a bit. No big deal right... Wrong. I didn't take a picture but the wrapper ended up splitting in a perfect line. I smoked it down fairly far but not as far as usual. I will give this cigar a 92 but I will definitely have to revisit it with bourbon or water. I am fond of many of Deschutes offerings but this is definitely a miss.
  13. That reminds me I have not tried a Montecarlo in a while will have to smoke one from my box from 2020.
  14. I purchased 3 of these in early 2019. I also purchased a dual flame Xikar that stopped working within the year. I still have 1 of the Vertigo's the second got confiscated at an airport and the third my friend uses all the time and has dropped it umpteen times but it still works. I am sticking with the Vertigo lighters. Some day I may buy a nice dupont but until then I will stick to a awesome lighter that if I lose I will just buy another 3 pack with butane for $24.
  15. Besides cutting the amount of calories I eat I have been cutting down on carbs which has seemed to help in my weight loss. I couldn't stay on a full keto diet so I don't try. Anyways breakfast if you eat it during the week is always hard because you are rushed. I have started making these on the weekend and freezing them. I make them in a single mini waffle maker. Chaffles Makes two 1/2 Cup of shredded cheese (I usually use cheddar) 1 Large egg 1 Tablespoon of Almond flower 1 Strip of bacon crumbled 1 Teaspoon of water (This makes them a bit more fluffy)
  16. I already have lost some weight this year. This competition should be even more of a motivation.
  17. I started the last competition and then bailed. Definitely going to enter this one. I have already started working on loosing weight and have lost a couple pounds but this will be even more of an incentive.
