Thought that I would start this off for the new year. Good to see what people's favorite or current libation is. Tonight, The Balvenie Portwood 21...

Has anybody had any of the Kirkland Glenlivet 40? Any good?

Anybody know the price in your local warehouse?

It's Alexander Murray - so it's chill-filtered and colored plus not cask strength. PASS

Never had it but it's $399.99 at my local Costco. Haven't seen any reviews on it so not rushing to buy a bottle.

Thanks Dan. I would assue its the same price, if not very close all across CA then. Appreciate it.

Np. I mean honestly if you're ever in Norcal or Socal, just hit up K&L wines and buy some of their signatory and hepburn choice selections. More bang for your buck if you ask me...natural color ALWAYS and cask strength. Then again, the 40 yo Glenlivet might be awesome and the deal of the century. Too bad there are no trustworthy reviews out there.

Who's Alexander Murray? Is he an independant bottler?

Yes, an independent. Literally every scotch I've tried from them has been horribly bland. Not horrible, but not worth buying. I gifted a bunch to someone who I knew would appreciate the gesture, and not take it as an insult.

Don't know but quoting no longer works on this PC...

The question was if the Faultline Blended was any good. I do like it - for the price it beats most other blends. I like it as much as the JW green which costs double. Beats JW Gold and Platinum for me, as those aren't smoky enough for my taste.

Worth picking up a bottle to try.

Yamazaki 12 Year Old with a Dominican stogie.

...Worth noting I had a wee dram of that non age statement Hakushu distiller's edition, pre-dinner. The screw cap annoyed me. Didn't know about that ****. But the whisky itself was better than expected...

Hehe...yes, I remember peeling off the capsule of my first bottle of Suntory whisky many years back and thinking: WTF...

It was a bottle of the Yamazaki 12 Year Old.
