  2. Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Eye of the Shark and a Siglo V in tow. Gotta say, for me, the Shark outclassed the Siglo V. Thanks to everybody who put this together. Thanks for posting it. Easily one of the most poetic and informative pieces of media I've consumed about cigars. Wonderful. You've sold me on these Cañonazos.

  8. Two firsts for me and a friend. 1) Our first ever experience with a Punch CC. Punch Short de Punch Oct-20 MGL . Found the primary flavors to be very cedar/wood forward and extremely enjoyable with great construction. 2) A 5 y/o bourbon from Tennessee that was very rich and sweet...first sip made me think of brown sugar soaked Levi Garrett chewing tobacco in a good and surprising way. Bottled in Bond with the abv to stand up to a bit of ice/water. shout out to @williamthewolf for turning me onto the Punch de Punch!

  18. Continuing to dip my foot in the NC world, some it enjoyable, some of it, really underwhelming. My surrounding?? I've just moved into my new house, and I am in cigar heaven, I'm my big back garden listening to Hamlet lay out his expertise on the FOH nudies uploaded video. My new neighbours are awesome lovely people (and really talented musicians) Birds manically making nests, local cats plotting their death. I feel like I have turned a massive corner in life. much more peace, and calm. Just got this box of Le Grande recently and have been seriously impressed. Aroma cold Smells like oily Nori seaweed paper, which I love, but very unusual to me in terms of what to expect from a cigar smell. It has some cross over with what someone might consider a classic barnyard funkiness, but definitely sushi paper, almost exactly Draw Given a punch, and it's a little bit of a wind tunnel. Flavour is sweeter than the wrapper aroma, bit of astringency, and walnut, which seems to be quite typical in the NC that I have bought thus far. 1st 3rd Straight in with a slight white wine sourness (which many have stated is a thing with the Epernay line) , tart walnut skin. I nice light woodiness. Draw slightly too easy, but doesn't seem to be negatively affecting flavour or anything else. Slight bright virginia pipe tobacco astringency. Reminding me of a cuban cigar, but struggling to put my finger on it. Like a much lighter sweeter Por Larranaga caramel. Definitely in the Picadores zone. Toasty sort of green sweetness. It’s like a PL picadores, with a white wine sourness over the top. 2nd 3rd I can’t help but feel, as much as If the Picadors is an ‘ok’ perfectly respectable cigar, this is far more interesting, far better balanced. The white wine thing is quite addictive, and draws you back to the cigar, a bit like the juicy fruitness does with Punch, not that it tastes like a Punch in anyway. . The walnut thing, and the wine wine thing are the two notes that stand out as not present in the cuban world, but the creaminess and texture feels very opulent and cubanesque. This is the 1st NC cigar that I would happily smoke in rotation with cubans, I don’t see a quality difference. 3rd 3rd Marzipan sweetness, tasting very similar to a old SP molino at this point, those who know, know that means pretty bloody spectacular. That’s it, I’m buying another box, too good, genuinely impressive. Apart from a bit of missing salt, my mouth is flooded with molino aftertaste. Which I need in my life Score 90-91 Awesome. very happy @JohnS I think if you are continuing your NC odyssey, I think you will be nicely surprised by the Eperney line, or at least the Le Grande. I intend to branch out in this line.

  19. So I have a friend who is an artist . He has a gallery in Carmel California. He's a talented guy. Anyway we were having a cigar one evening down on the waterfront and he took some pictures of me. Unbeknownst to me he painted my picture. I am deeply flattered. He posted this on IG this morning . Took me by total surprise.

  21. Some Connie 2’s from our gracious host. If they look disheveled, that’s just because I took them out for a nice sniff before taking the pic. I can never get them back in the cab just right 😆 Great date on these!!

  22. I apologize but I this cigar was a gift from a wonderful friend and I didn’t write any information down regarding date or box. I asked myself what makes a good cigar, a great cigar? Is it the lounge? The comfort of the chair you choose? The drink? Nope. I think it’s all about the company. The people you pick to light that stick with will take an average stick to a incredibly great stick. My company for the evening is my brother in law at our favorite lounge in the world: churchills @ the brown palace in Denver Co. This is my first supremos. I’ll do my best for the review! The cold draw is incredible. Earthy notes with a chocolate factory on the back in. Definitely some unique flavor that I’m not sure I can quite put my finger on. The first 3rd: On the inhale there some nuttiness, sweetness but mostly a robust spiced chocolate tobacco flavor. Pretty heavy on the exhale with notes of earth and cedar. Second 3rd: The nuttiness has left and more of the chocolate and cedar has come into play. Great construction and easy to inhale. Absolutely wonderful flavor. Small side note: I’ve had some pretty rough Cubans in terms of how the draw is. This cigar probably ranks #1 in terms of how perfect it really is to smoke. I barley have to do the work and it’s producing wonderful ,thick, dense clouds. Last 3rd: The chocolate has left the room and a very solid cedar and some slight bitterness and a smooth leather flavor. Overall: 88/100 Has anyone had these before and what do you think? 26. morning yourself, champ. always a joy to wake up to the musings of the tinhat brigade. the short answer is absolutely. if you had read anything i have ever contributed, you'd know that i am always happy to follow the science. are you, champ? i don't care whether that is in relation to covid, drinking water, climate issues, anything. our friend 99call references jesus. if the science decides (i don't mean the fruitbat fringe but the genuine scientific community) that someone wandered around the middle east a couple of thousand years ago dishing out miracles, and now sits on a cloud ruling the universe, then fair enough (not holding my breath on this one, champ). the comment you quote was made over a year ago, champ. are you really telling me that you know so much that you have never changed a view in a period exceeding a year? which nobel prize don't you hold? more seriously, at that time, a period of around three months for natural immunity was apparently the prevailing scientific view. if that has now been extended, i have no argument. if in another 12 months, the scientific view has changed again, in either direction, i won't have an issue. would you? gandhi was once asked why he had changed his mind on an issue. 'because i know more this week than i did last week'. i assume that applies to the scientific community as well. but you ask if i am sticking with natural immunity not being sufficient? well hell yes. did you even read the article you have quoted to supposedly support your position? i'll be honest, i did not get far. para five - 'experts stress that vaccination is the preferable route to immunity'. so, yes. and if you follow the science, you'd be on board with this. or is it only science you can shoehorn into your theories that you'll support? the next para points out the fairly obvious problem of natural immunity in that you might just be one of those who get sick or die. in the USA alone, more than 1.1 million people have died. that is 1.1 million families and friends devastated. the vast majority of these were not vaxxed, according to reports. not to mention the huge number who were seriously ill and the pressure that placed on those families, or the horrendous economic chaos and cost all this has caused, the stress on communities and the massive overload it all placed on hospitals and the medical systems. can't get much plainer for me, champ. but if you do find that the science on this changes, always happy to listen.

  32. Started a new box of JL1’s. MGL SEP 21 this time. Good first cigar but not as good as the ones from the last box (MGL ABR 21). Hope they come up to the level I’ve become used to with JL1’s.

  33. in full agreement that science does evolve - hopefully that is clear from earlier posts - and that if one does purport to follow the science then one's views should as well. often science has differing views and it can take some time for any form of consensus to emerge. i am not talking the 'i stood in the rain so i am a climatologist' fruitbats but genuine and creditable scientists. the moving the goalposts is a concept perhaps better addressed another time. but agreed, the mob that seem to work on the principle that scientists once decreed that the earth was flat so they are not allowed to change their views are simply a waste of time.

  34. Dont forget Rabies. That's a 100% fatality rate unless you are treated with a vaccine before it reaches your brain. But, in all seriousness the covid vaccine is really great at preventing death for those who are over 50, obese, or with respiratory illnesses. It does not stop the spread nor prevent you from catching it, and is somewhat useless for those whom are young and healthy, especially the younger you get. Comparing it to the MMR or Polio vaccine is an apples to oranges comparison that makes no sense. Furthermore, the reason the anti-vaxxers have become mainstream is because our CDC gave us a Noble lie instead of the truth. The CDC insisted the vaccine would stop the spread (even though Pfizer recently admitted they never tested for it). When it became obvious this was not true (around May 2021), the anti-vaxxers had the best opening ever. The CDC should have started right out the gate with the truth, that it will not stop the spread but it will greatly decrease the chance of death for those over 50. Of course you cant really justify forcing people to get it with that messaging, which is probably why they did not. The damage is now done unfortunately and, judging by history, it will take a decade for the public to regain trust in the CDC up the level prior to 2020.

  35. Tell that to you grandparents’ generation, who had friends and loved ones crippled or killed by polio. And left stone deaf by the measles. The only thing that changed in 2020 was that anti-vaxxing became mainstream instead of belonging to the fringe yummy mummy brigade.

It's not a crime! it's my body and I get to decide what I put in it! I will proudly put it on display... And the same goes for your humidor."

  40. So winding down from the night and have a few days of snowboarding under me. Snow is shit with the narrow catwalks being pretty much scraped off and I'm just sliding around - got my board in for an edge so hopefully it'll help. Off piste is pretty hard but def better than the runs. Oh and another thing - people here even on the narrow catwalks are skiing back and forth over the entire run and its infuriating lol. With everyone being funneled into these runs, it feels crazy crowded. That being said the mountain has so much potential with more snow, I'm staring at bare off piste routes that look soo nice! Scenary is of course beautiful so I'm just sightseeing while dodging people. Apres is really fun too! No cigar for the past 2 nights but prob tomorrow!
