  1. Montecristo A MOL Jun 2017 The biggest Montecristo cigar around is this one, but don't fooled, it's not the strongest. At 47 ring gauge x 235 mm in length (that's 9¼ inches!) this felt like a toothpick in diameter in comparison to the mammoth Sautter Custom Super Mario Habanos cigar I smoked prior to this one. At two months short of two years in age, this was simply sublime. The Montecristo coffee and cocoa was there, albeit in a diminished capacity, however, it was the flavours that complimented the muted Montecristo quintessential flavour which esteemed it so highly. @Luca smoked one with me this night and what I labelled as almond nut he noted as hazelnut, like Frangelico liqueur, which upon reflection I believe is quite apt. However, in regards to the orange citrus twang like Cointreau, there was no doubt whatsoever, for this was the absolute superlative flavour which held us both in attentive bliss for easily over 2½ hours. So, in summary, if you are looking to this cigar to overwhelm you with strength or complexity, then look elsewhere, otherwise do yourself a favour and give this some time to rest (at least 12 to 18 months in my opinion) and hopefully you could sit back and enjoy it like I did. This is a strong candidate for my best cigar of April thus far.

  2. First Añejado. Had this box for a couple of years. Heard mixed reviews and wasn’t sure if I’d dive in or sell this box off..... It’s a damned good smoke! More peppery than I’m used to, but it’s not nicotine laden like the peppery Nicaraguan sticks I’ve had and that suits me just fine.

  3. Remember when there were locker and aged sales at the back of a sudden FOH forum listing night? Took so much dough and guts back then. Only a couple left in this box, the only RyJ that interest me I confess. Orange dot shows the lot number, EPR, AGO 08, no band on these. Incredibly smooth and tasty. CB

  4. OLM OCT 15 Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro courtesy of @JohnS. Thank you for this! At the start I got some nice sweet fruit and bread notes. It reminded me of Panettone. A bit of spice on the retrohale. Towards the mid point I then started to get a bit of a Paneforte taste of fruit, nuts and a touch of chocolate. It was as if I was eating freshly made Paneforte that my Nonna makes every year. Spice on the retrohale had gone by this point. The panforte flavours continued until the end and the spice on the retrohale picked up again. Lovely cigar. Thanks again John!

  5. I’m smoking this Monte 2 Gran Reserva in the tiny (but charming) basement smoking room, right underneath the tiny (but charming) London cigar shop where I bought it. Life couldn’t get much more perfect than this.

  13. So yesterday was supposed to be the beginning of a 3 day camping trip to my favorite spot down on the Kenai Peninsula. I brought a fiver of great cigars gifted by great friends. Unfortunately, things didn't go quite as planned. I got about 2 miles up the trail and hit an impenetrable wall of the most terrible kind of snow. You're standing on 2 feet and everything's fine - you're on top of the seemingly hard-packed snow. You take a step... or try. ONE leg sinks. You're now waist deep in the stuff, and your other leg is pretzeled around your head. You can't do the splits - why is the snow trying to FORCE you to?!?! To make matters worse, sometimes the snow at the bottom of this leg-hole collapses around your boot, locking you in. My little soldiers were a wee frozen. My knees got wrenched more than a few times from the sudden split drops into the snow. I turned around. Lesson learned. Always bring the snowshoes til atleast May. Not all was lost, however. The drive down there is one of the best in the world. I picked a day with clear weather and was rewarded for the choice. Got to enjoy a 2018 @awkwardPause SCDLH La Fuerza with a view of La Glacier (Portage Glacier), and was delighted by the evolution of that cigar while taking in some of the best scenery Earth has to offer - Turnagain Arm. Great day.

  14. Had break time cigar with H. Upmann Half Corona from weekday sampler. Great draw, taste and burning (few touch ups only)! Highly recommended for both beginners and those who look for quick smoke. P.S. Such a cute little cigar ?

  17. It rained all night. The kookaburra 's started their morning shriek at 5am. I turned over to Di and asked "are you having fun yet?" Day one camping reminded me why we stay in apartments. it has been a decade since I have set up a campsite and god knows I wasn't very good then. Yesterday started with hitching the trailer to the Rangie. The trailers jockey wheel decided it was the perfect time to break. Di was freaking out as we had a ferry to catch but I reverted to the handyman skills I knew best....I called for the hammer ....and beat the crap out of it. Somehow it worked, we were away. Can I say.....Range Rover Evoques are not known for towing. What was I thinking . As I tap this out I am looking at all the other 4x4 in the campsite. landcruisers, jeeps, Patrols, Landrovers. I have the only Evoque.......I am quite proud of it It took just over 3 hours to set up camp yesterday. We are camping with my brother and his family. If it wasn't for him (he could teach Bear Grylls a think of two) I reckon Di and I would have been sleeping overnight in the car. it worked well.....Di and Melissa post trauma Is it worth it? i will let you know later.

  20. El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse SGA Sep 2016 The El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse can be such a delightful little flavour bomb and this was no exception. This had the usual lemon citrus combining with a core fruit and shortbread profile and some floral and honey notes on the edges. It was just a tad 'toasty' in places. My aim is to get more of an almond nut flavour out of them as they age long-term.

  24. Glad you enjoyed it. RyJ Exhibicion No.3 2009 at JJFox yesterday. I'd promised myself one since I was last in there (with@Luca, coincidentally), having been distracted by a vintage Ramonitas that time. Very good cigar, quite mild but very RyJ in it's profile. 25. It’s a pretty cigar. At cold, the draw feels like it will be tight. Once I light it, I’m pleased to discover this is not true. Smooth draw. Almost sweet flavors. Paired with Makers Mark. Makers really isn’t that bad. I’d say this is medium-bodied. I might get a hint of that fruit flavor everybody talks about, but just a hint. And maybe I’m lying. My palate is a little messed up because I burned my tongue on my coffee this morning. The cigar stays the same the whole way through. Hopefully with some more age these will open up a bit. I’d rate it a 90 today.

  26. I smoked single cigar at the end of 2017 and was not impressed. It was like a piece of cedar veneer in your mouth with black pepper. I also read at the forums that those who tried the cigar in 2016 were very disappointed. I'm not a hunter for Limitadas, but these cigars are still on sale and their cost is not high. Besides, I was buying an open box and it was a dark wrapper. Aroma on cold: smoked 1/3: light pleasant fragrant smoke. There is no gastronomic delights, driftwood and a little salt. Sancho Pansa without cream. After warming up there was an interesting game of taste, you thought about how to interpret a new shade, puff again, and a different shade. The taste causes a strong separation of saliva. The cigar has a slow unhurried relaxing Smoking. 2/3: the Cigar did not change the taste, but increased the smokiness. Let's try to update the taste by breaking the ashes. Taste of strengthened, but has changed a bit - added smoked meat . By the middle of the third cigar began to give a lot of smoke. 3/3: each puff is a powerful portion of smoke. The taste is round, wood-smoked, pepper, tannic. Burning is very slow. Ash is strong, obviously the leaves with a high content of minerals. I would say that 3/3 in need of aging. Conclusion: the cigar has improved a lot with age, but it's still not the peak of taste. Cigar has an unusual game of taste, despite the fact that the main taste is almost unchanged. I still have 9 sticks left, I will smoke every half year and watch the evolution. A score is 4/5 for Limitada, for the regular cigar it would be 5/5.

  31. Construction: Solid but light in hand - no noticeable anomalies. Wrapper: Matte colorado - see pics for veins, etc. Pre-light Aroma / Draw / Taste: Aroma of barnyard and raisin. Good draw with little flavor. Draw / Burn / Smoke Volume: Good draw, razor burn, adequate smoke volume. Taste: Initial draws are of sweet tobacco / raisin with a deep tobacco backbone. An inch or so in, some green notes emerge, a tinge of sweetness, meaty tobacco, medium body. Texture is dry-ish, but not overly woody. Smoke is not dense, but is rather viscous / mouth coating. Overall impression of slightly sweet, rich tobacco with a slight herbal tinge. Nearing midpoint, the overall sense of rich tobacco and dry smoke remains, interspersed with some of the initial raisin notes. I keep coming back to the term meaty. Continuing on, begins to show more layers of flavor - the rich tobacco, bit of raisin, hint of walnut. Rich in overall flavor, but remains medium in body. Nothing overt, all in balance. Moves forward much the same, with little in the way of evolution. Body becomes fuller, but retains a sense of finesse. Finishes up with little change. Never harsh, never bitter. Nothing outrageous, superbly solid. Very nice cigar.

  37. Huge fan of the books first then the show. Show quality declined after they ran out of source material when the show caught up and surpassed the books. Having said that, the show is still a great spectacle and the books may never be finished. Will be watching as soon as they air.

  38. Well the 2019 Masters will be forever remembered now as a special one, similarly to the 1986 Masters when Jack Nicklaus won. I never thought Tiger Woods would add to his 14 Majors, but that 11-year drought has now been broken. What an amazing victory!
