When I first started taking ncs seriously I was trying as many singles as I possibly can and looking for “ Cuban like “ sticks but now I just enjoy them for what they’re. Delicious sticks that are materially different than what I’m used to but that’s not a bad thing.

Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure De Luxe. Curiously much closer to the classic Montecristo profile than the Hoyo one: deep chocolate and some espresso, light spice, but of pepper of the retrohale. Really very pleasant, though “straightforward”. 90.

Excellent smoke!  Bold Partagas notes with some nice sweet spice.   Felt like it had a few years on it?

No pic but I’ve just had the last of 5 of a retro tin of H Upmann Regalias which I just burned through. 
 

This is one of the most relentlessly sweet sticks I’ve ever come across, just pure honey that doesn’t let up. It’s a bit like actually just eating honey. I’ve likened it before to dry honey-nut cornflakes. This doesn’t match most descriptions I see of it which consistently mention pepper. I get no pepper even on a retrohale. Just lashings of honey. I mean don’t get me wrong I like honey but they’ve been amazingly one-dimensional for me.

Punch 48. Never been much of a Punch guy as I’ve not got on well with the Punch Punch or the Coronations, but this was truly superb. The dominant flavour is peanut butter, to an extent that is genuinely surprising as you don’t expect peanut butter from a cigar. One note. 92
