Another stunning May 18 UEB Monte 4. The lighter wrapper psp Monte is just sublime. Better than the box of 2014 psp dark wrapper Monte 1’s I have. This one is all citrus, chocolate and biscuit. The entire box have all been 92-93 pointers...probably my top 3 favorite boxes out of 30 I have going right now.

Bolivar Belicoso Finos SUM DIC 16. First two thirds were great. Cream, licorice, and leather. Last third was bitter and too woody. Overall 88/100 and getting better. Only a third of the box left.

Beautiful morning with a '17 RGPC thanks to @crking3.  Really liked this RGPC. Almost maduro-like in its flavors.

 

'16 Boli PC paired with a Coke.  

Turning out to be a freaking fantastic cigar. Just the right amount of sweetness, and watered down black coffee. 

First RyJ Cazadores, '18, I believe. Thanks @Thirds for the cigar. 

Good full flavored RyJ. Black coffee and cherry. Nothing fancy, just good flavors everyone can appreciate. Dessert after a late dinner.

Montecristo Petit Edmundo (BTR MAR 09). A little daddy time alone on the balcony with a little light rain that does not reach my spot as the wind is very light today. It has been a long week so far. Montecristo No.2 GOS Ago 2018

A recent poll on our forum listing the one marca members dislike brought about interesting results. You'd think that Cohiba and Bolivar would top this type of poll, but no, the marca most disliked was in fact Romeo y Julieta and second was Montecristo. I can save some discussion on why I think RyJ was voted the most unpopular, however, when it comes to Montecristo, one word would sum up why it rated so negatively on a poll such as this one...and that word is, inconsistency.

It's been a little while since I've had a Montecristo No.2 and I believe the idea of inconsistent outcomes with this vitola would be the reason why. Where I may differ to you is in the fact that when I enjoy a Montecristo cigar I find them exemplary. When they are ordinary I find I can still smoke them, but they are just average to above average for me, they don't tend to offend my palate to the point where I get frustrated or ask why I bother with Montecristo as a marca!

Tonight's Montecristo No.2 was fairly ordinary but in reality, that is all it could have been due to its construction. I was unable to get a consistent burn line on this cigar because it was rolled incorrectly. This meant that there were some soft spots in the cigar and I had to touch it up a few times, and quite significantly, to correct the burn. I am always reticent to do this because of the possibility of bringing bitter flavours to the cigar.

In regards to flavour, if this was rolled correctly, it would have been okay. It had some nice notes of nut and citrus twang, a little milk coffee but there was no cocoa or chocolate to be found here, which was a shame.

Good to know!! I have a box of GOS May 18 and they been anything but stellar. Im chalking it up to the darkness of the wrapper and they need more rest. They have the cocoa and espresso taste to them, just not ready. Need to get my hands on the lighter wrapper boxes

MSU SEP 18 QdO Coronos Claro Picked up a couple of boxes and they been in my humidor a month. I don’t normally smoke something that soon but I have not had one of these before so pulled one out.

Not quite sure what to make of it. Seemed a bit harsh, not a lot of flavor but it finished well. It will definitely be a while before I have another and hopefully this is t representative of what they will be.
