El Presidente Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 This was a deck discussion Friday....we cover the big issues You are out late at night. It has been a big night. Before you hit the train, catch the uber or cab, or maybe your team has a minibus designated driver......god bless those mates 1am/2am "ish".......fast food beckons. What are you popping into and what are you ordering 8 times out of 10?* *I know we are all health conscious on FOH 1
Popular Post JY0 Posted May 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 10, 2023 In N Out, animal style burger and fries. 6
BrightonCorgi Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Around my locale, Chinese food rules the late night roost. 4
Popular Post El Hoze Posted May 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 10, 2023 I grew up in New Jersey. I remember on more than one occasion having zero recollection but finding evidence that I devoured a dozen or so White Castle sliders sometime between last call and closing my eyes. I am almost embarrassed to admit it but I haven’t eaten fast food in over 10 years. It could be that the last time I stayed up past midnight was probably about the same! Getting old! 5
SCgarman Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Gave up fast food. Don't eat it at all anymore, no exceptions. All over priced and unhealthy garbage, IMO. If I'm hungry either prepare food at home or eat at a decent (non fast food) restaurant. You would not believe how lean, trim and healthier I am and feel. Makes a big difference cutting the stuff out of your life, granted many cannot nor want to. To each their own. 4

Also the grease trucks at RU in New Brunswick were a great option. 1

Popular Post Low Posted May 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 10, 2023 Really depends on how sauced I am. Taco Bell and Jack are the ol' reliables, party pack and munchie meal respectively. But if I'm just a little too far gone, then I get into the cooking zone. I keep a lot of things prepared so throughout the week I can toss together a full meal in about 30 minutes or so. Last time around, I made an entire sheet of red enchiladas filled with ground beef, cheese, and jalapeño for 6 of my friends and me. Took about 15 minutes to assemble, and 20 minutes to cook. My kitchen is fairly open, so we can keep the drinks and conversation flowing, while I amuse them by somehow not burning myself. Bit of a rant, but damn do I love cooking drunk. 5

Popular Post MrBirdman Posted May 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2023 Both of mine have been taken - White Castle and Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich. From back when my smoking had a distinctly different aroma 😉. 6
Popular Post Fuzz Posted May 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2023 Unless you are in CBD/Surry Hills/Chinatown, most restaurants close around 11pm in Sydney. My favourite late night Chinese restaurant closed down just after Covid restrictions lifted. A real pity because it was one of the few places open till 4am. And the pipis in XO sauce was fantastic! If you're in the suburbs and really need that drunken, after midnight food fix, you really can't go past a HSP. Kebab meat, hot chips, cheese, all covered in garlic, chili and bbq sauce. 5
Popular Post Fuzz Posted May 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2023 If you're in the CBD and feeling nostalgic, you can always head down to Woolloomooloo, and grab a tiger pie from Harry's Cafe de Wheels. An institution in Sydney, that has been serving late night revellers since the 1930s. Tiger Pie - your choice of pie (beef, curry, chicken, steak & mushroom etc... or if you must, vegetable 🤢) topped with mashed potato, mushy peas and gravy. 6 1
Ford2112 Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Here in the States we have a store chain called 7-11. There was one down the street from my house as a teenager. There is a thing we invented there called a death dog. A death dog is a 1/4 pound big bite hot dog 🌭 with everything on it. EVERYTHING. Mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, relish, cheese sauce, chili, onions, jalapeños. The only time to eat them was after 2 am ,usually under the influence of psychedelic drugs. I would tell my buddies " you don't look at it. Just wolf it down!" Good times. Sometimes a bit rough the next day!! 4
Popular Post Chibearsv Posted May 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 12, 2023 Real Chili over pasta from my drinking days in Milwaukee. Had to wait in line to get a counter seat at 2am Not fast food but brilliant stuff 5
SMQQKIN Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 Carne asada burrito as big as my head from a late night taco truck. 3

That reminds me of the time I went to visit my friend in Minneapolis. He was on the University of Minnesota wrestling team. We (me, him, and a few other wrestlers) got hammered and then I went to his house and cooked eggs. We all thought they were the greatest eggs ever, but dang did I leave a mess to clean up in the morning. 1

Tiger Pie - your choice of pie (beef, curry, chicken, steak & mushroom etc... or if you must, vegetable 🤢) topped with mashed potato, mushy peas and gravy. Down in ADL we have similar but distinct variations on both of these. The AB is our answer to the HSP (and I believe predates it) - only differences to my knowledge are the inclusion of tomato sauce alongside the bbq/chilli/garlic, and the meat is chunkier cuts of Greek gyros as opposed to the shavings of Turkish doner. Then we also have the infamous pie floater - swap those mushy peas out for a full bowl of chunky pea soup, slap your meat pie in upside-down and drizzle with tomato sauce. Adelaide has a few 24h bakeries which I don't really see much of elsewhere in Aus, perfect for these kinds of nights. And my final contribution - so many Australian cities have a 24h pancake restaurant in the middle of town. I have no idea why. But it's great. As a 20something I used to work the odd shift finishing around 3-4am, and it was either this or a cheeseburger. Easy choice. 5 1
Namisgr11 Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Cheesesteak, with provolone, fried onions ketchup. 3

Ahh yes.....the infamous Pancake Manor! Savoury pancake at 4am. Brings back memories 1
Boxer31 Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Upstate ny - any all night dinner that served real home fries with eggs. Fast forward 20 or so yrs - after playing adult beer league hockey and then drinking for a couple hours grilled chicken sandwiches at the bar because we were “athletes” lol!
