Popular Post ChangBang Posted October 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 29, 2023 Best thing I ate in hong kong. Lightly marinated fish sashimi with a side of scallop! Anyone recognize what fish that is? My Chinese speaking friend ordered it from the specials chalkboard so we can't look up the name of it on the actual menu. May have just been the "fish of the day" thing too. 6

I was hit in the head by a flying fish when out on the boat in Cuba. . He didn't make it. It looked very similar 1
Fuzz AI Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Yep, that'd be a flying fish. You can find them in the area around Hong Kong island. It is also quite common in Taiwan. 1

They are best eaten raw with a little chilli, wasabi and soy...basically a herring with wings in our neck anyway 2

Popular Post ha_banos Posted December 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 9, 2023 Went to a Sagardi in London for our anniversary. Steak is 90£/kg or 135£/kg for the premium cut. It was nice, but not good value. Not worth the money nowadays. 7
westg Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Late night service in the city..stumbled across this cozy little tapas bar on the way home from the fire works. I just loved it, late night food poetry. Blood from my Blood tempanillo perfect. 4

Not the best mushroom as it was pretty dry. 2

The "chicken of the woods" are always the holy grail finds. He still forages well into his 80's. This pic was from a local paper from when he found a chonker. By far these are my favourite mushrooms. To buy them here in Toronto you're looking at $28/Kg (CAD$). 10
