OrangePaw
I’ve been successful so far keeping my hands off the Hoyo DC cab but thinking NYE might be a fine evening to try my first one paired with some Cuban sipping rum. Happy New Year everyone and be safe! 🎉 🎈 🎊
Habana Mike
For me the final cigar will be another Montecristo A from a 2007 box I've been nursing along. Perfect smoke from starters through dessert to champagne as I get almost 3 hours from these. First cigar of 2022 is at question though,

Drguano
Forecast is -25°C so I might be just gazing at my humidors longingly but you never know. With sufficient fortification…

Popular Post Fosgate
I'll be super busy the next 30+ hours for tomorrows celebration. Today, making Norwegian Rosettes, Krumkake and Lefse pastry filling. Organizing my garage and house a bit more. Run to the store for a few items all while doing some work today. Tomorrow gotta go pickup a 70lb pig, stuff it and throw it on the Traeger, head feet and all. House appraiser is coming over to look at my house in the middle of this also. Then cooking everything ready for the evening for our Filipino/Norwegian/German foods celebration. Food: Lechon (whole roasted suckling pig), Pancit (Filipino noodle dish), Lumpia (Filipino crispy egg roll), Pickled Herring, Lutefisk (I totally expect "It's not as bad as I though, not good but not bad), Braunschweiger spread on crackers, Veggie tray and Scnittbrochen, Sweet Mustard, Weissebraten and Blutwurst straight from Munich, Desert: Kling Lefse, Krumkake, Rosettes Beverage: Gluwein, Honey Schnapps, Zirbenz Pine Schnapps, Schladerer Black Forest Cherry Brandy, Home brewed Eisbock bier 22% ABV, Tom & Jerry, and Seagrams tropical wine coolers and of course Diplimatico Gran Reserva Rum Cigar: I would love to have enough time to sit through a Partagas Lusitania or RYJ Churchill but I think I will only have enough time for a Monte #5. Worse case scenario I am at least having a Trinidad Short...or two.
ElReyDel757
No idea on my cigar yet. Due to the fine gentlemen on this forum in the Champagne Master Class, I’m having my first bottle of Pol Roger. Bollinger Brut was sold out everywhere in a 2 hour radius of me. Any cigar pairing suggestions with Pol Roger? I basically have a box of Robusto, Piramide, or Petit Corona size of every regular production Cuban, as well as popular other releases like Connie A. I’m thinking Cohiba Robusto, Sancho Panza Belicoso, San Cristobal La Fuerza or Ramon Allones Superiores.

Great menu planned with a nice line-up of Italian wines. As a special treat, one of our guests has sourced a bottle of 2015 Screaming Eagle Cab, Napa Valley for the steak course. This is a bucket list wine that I am anxious to taste. Cognac and cigars after dinner - Sir Winston 2016 from Rob and the Czar team (my one and only source of CC). I hope you guys have a long night…that Screaming Eagle will pay you back with time open…more so than most wines I have decanted…It’s amazing how much that wine opens up into something way more beautiful and complex/savory then on first pop. Well, maybe not passed but no one told me I failed so I got that going for me. 😂

Vintage Madeira is best for birthday presents.. My daughter is a 1980 version. Considered Madeira but ended up with port. Pineau de Charante from Cognac area is my favourite when it comes to this class of product. Thanks for your comment which resulted in a visit to this old house.

It was excellent. 1.5 hours on the original decant. But over the course of the evening, it just got better and better. Great wine. I know it’s a bit of apples and pears to compare a great Napa Cab with a grand cru Burgundy such as Romanée-Conti, but it is certainly in that league of wonderfully crafted wine - from vine to bottle. The Meursault was also an excellent expression All in all, a great NYE! We’re now preparing in Shanghai to celebrate again next week for the Chinese New Year. Along with wine, there will also be the obligatory aged Guizhou Maotai Baijiu (贵州茅台白酒). 😂

If I may recommend Maybach Materium and Heitz Martha’s as worth wines with age. Can’t ever go wrong with white and red burg! 🙂 happy drinking!
