How many cigars do you smoke per week?

For some 20 years now i have smoked on average 6 - 7 per week

originally it was Petite coronas... now its Robusto's and larger on the weekends which also increases my alcohol consumption.

I also notice that the more i smoke the less i taste the subtle notes.

Apart from the fact that i can buy a very good quality push bike for the price of a box of cigars in this country, im starting to think about how many is too many?

would be interested to hear others opinions on this.

I think it's all subjective.  For me, if I start not being able to taste subtle flavors or notes, I'll tone down my intake a bit.  Pre-COVID I was about the same as you regarding number of cigars and now its gone up significantly (12-16+ per week) working from home all day for the last 5 months or so.  If smoking more than one cigar a day, do you go from less in body to more full or vice versa? This has an effect on my taste buds if I start out with something "stronger" then go lighter.

To your point of alcohol consumption, I notice a difference in the taste of a cigar depending on what I'm drinking with that stick, alcohol or otherwise.  I'll get different notes from the same stick if I'm drinking coffee, bourbon, seltzer, beer, etc.

I will say, the more I retrohale during a cigar, the less I can actually get flavor wise from that cigar.  I try and limit that to a handful of times per stick, although it doesn't usually work out that way.

That's my take on it.

Interesting - I find my retrohale helps me in identifying flavors. Now, the taste manifests different so I find myself doing both - maybe 60-70% retrohales and 30-40% not.

Then again, maybe I just love the retro and want and excuse to keep doing it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Question: How many cigars is to many?

Answer: n+1, where n is the perfect amount of cigars smoked for you.

3-4 cigars a day

For me, too many is when I start to lose the ability to pick up the flavors I know are there or I start to get off flavors.  When I get muddled/slightly dirty flavors I know I need to pull back and give my palate a rest.

I’m smoking more recently due to home office, around 38-42 sticks per week....

43 is the magic number for me too. 42 is fine, 43 is just hedonistic overkill!

I have an uptick in the summers for sure, in large part due to the extra daylight, and also company more interested in joining for a firepit session, but with wet and cold...Fall-Spring where I am, in the summer I'm probably a 4-5 a week guy. In the winter, it drops to 1-2. Each year I take about a month off from smoking. When that month was in the middle of summer it was a slight bummer, but now that it's into late Spring I don't feel like I'm missing out on the "season of smoking" :P

But, but, 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything!

In the summer is probably 6-7 a week and generally lanceros, lonsdales, long panatellas and double coronas. In the winter it's about 2-3 per week and generally a robusto, corona or corona jr/half corona to be my standard.  This has also changed alot for me as a had a house on the beach for 8 years where I found myself smoking 10-12 cigars a week just as I walked the dog on the beach daily. The hound knew the smell of the humidor opening and always got excited.

I'm averaging about 20 a week in the Summer. Working from home has made the morning coffee cigar practically a must. Then there's the mandatory midday cigar by the pool. Then there's the pre-dinner smoke with the 1st drink of the day, and of course you cant not smoke one later in the evening with a tipple! Of course this isn't very day, just the perfect days lol

Crappy thing about Western OR is that after about mid-Nov your chances to smoke go dramatically down thru the winter...RAIN

In 2017~2018, I smoked 3~4 sticks on a daily basis, sometimes bumped up to 6. Then I suffered from severe periodontal disease and made it down to less than 1 per day ever since.

I'm fairly young btw, I was 22 when I found massive bleeding from gum tissue... So I do worry more about health...

Going by weight rather than number would be a fairer judgement of how much one smokes. "I only smoke one cigar a day, doctor..."  No mention that, that one cigar is a Monte A.

One every weekday and then usually 3 on a Saturday and Sunday so 11pw. Sizes vary but the number doesn't.

I like the idea to take a month off per year!  I just dont know that i can do it.

I smoke 14 per week. Petit Corona in the afternoon for lunch break and a bigger smoke at night.

just need to stop inhaling so much. As a former cigarette smoker I can’t help but breathing in some.
