Popular Post El Presidente Posted July 8, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 8, 2019 Romeo Grand Churchill is currently being rolled at El Laguito. 58 X 192 The single roller is nicknamed Melon and he is knocking out 75-80 per day. 14 1
JohnS Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 75 to 80 (of these behemoths) a day? All I can see is "wow"! ? 1
SCgarman Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I have a nice box of MUO Monte 4 that I believe you said were from El Laguito. Very consistent and nicely rolled.....so far.
Connoisseur Kim Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Hmm super gigantic version of Churchill... Will it be released in this year?
ATGroom Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 They're from the 2018 festival. 450 humidors of 100. If a single roller is doing 75 per day, for a total of 4500 cigars... well... they have a full-time job for the next two years on this one. The press release at the time had them at a slightly more palatable 56 x 190. http://www.habanos.com/en/noticias/la-celebracion-de-su-20-aniversario-marca-el-intermedio-del-festival-del-habano/ 1
busdriver Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Would Winston dig the 58 RG? That’s huge man! I ate my words big time with the Mag 56 though. With any luck I won’t get to try these and be tempted!
Popular Post benfica_77 Posted July 9, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 9, 2019 Ughhh why 58 ring gauge....I don't want to smoke a salami ...hmm salami ...time for a snack 5
timis300 Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I wonder how many of these Melon will take home for himself... time to go to cuba in search of Melon
Nino Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Maybe so, nice story and nickname. But I have seen these being rolled and stored at another factory only and never heard of them being anywhere near El Laguito. Great cigar and a dream to smoke.

Hahahaha ... this is about the source - not the movie the older guys might remember who the source "Deep Throat" was ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Throat_(Watergate) Deep Throat is the pseudonym given to the secret informant who provided information in 1972 to Bob Woodward, who shared it with Carl Bernstein. Woodward and Bernstein were reporters for The Washington Post, and Deep Throat provided key details about the involvement of U.S. President Richard Nixon's administration in what came to be known as the Watergate scandal. 3 2
nKostyan Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 60-85 - is standard factory norm for working day of roller in similar format. At the same time, Grand Churchills does not require the skill of the highest category roller.
Nino Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Deep Throat confirms your story @Elpresidente Gran Churchill was transferred to El Laguito for rolling like a month ago. And I would think that for this Vitola, like for similar exclusive ones like the Roques etc., they would use Cat 9 rollers like "Melon"... 1
Puros Y Vino Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 With a name like Melon you know he's got to be bald. Or he has a huge gut. He rolls them on his stomach. ? 1 2

JohnnyO Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Rob...the ones that I have are 7 1/2 X 56, I don't think they are anywhere close to a 58RG. John
Kaptain Karl Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Absolute brutal size. Sucks they're making such fancy cigars in such awful vitolas. 1
nKostyan Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 He rolls them on his stomach. I remember an anecdote:- Waiter! Why do I have hair in the cutlet. "You see, sir, we have the best cook in town, but he's one-armed-he makes cutlets on his chest, and his chest is hairy... Wild laughter of the client is distributed: - I can't even imagine what is he using for filling with mincmeat inside the pepper!
