I'm taking bets on how long or how many posts it takes for someone to get a temporary vacation and then a permanent vacation...

This is a serious escalation.  it wasn't too long ago that we thought US/Cuba relations would normalise.  I wonder how the Jamal Khashoggi retributions are going.

Fair Enough. Election is a generous description, fine. But He WAS supported nearly Unanimously by the Cuban people. People always seem to forget that, or where never taught so in the first place. I'm

Nooooooo - just when I was finally getting off my butt to go in September :(

I have a flight there in June, It'll be interesting to see what the actual restrictions are. Hopefully Jet Blue / AirBnB will provide refunds if it's truly restricted to family only.

This is only the beginning of a more hardline stance to come. Much of this is due to Cuba's support of the Maduro regime in Venezuela. They are even contemplating placing Cuba back on the US list of state sponsors of terrorism. For those USA'ers who consider Havana their Disneyworld, the end is around the corner.

My guess is there will still be loopholes and they won't police them like they don't police them now. Cuba really has no choice but to support the socialist regime in Venezuela. That's where they get their Oil, Diesel, and internet. But I get it. We'll see.

All of this in the land of the free... ?

You are free to do as you wish. Even break US law. Just be prepared to pay the price if you get caught. My2c.

I repeat... I just don't know how we choose n pick what dictators we rub elbows with.

Cuban tanks in Venezuela? I think of you put your finger in the barrel of said tank cannons you might be able to stop them.

Agree with @Ethernut... Cuba's govt has no choice but in the end it's just like divorce. The innocent get hurt the most. I just want it to all go away soon. I feel for the innocent in Venezuela and for the same in Cuba. Including my aunts and cousins who will surely feel the burn.

One would have thought Trump would be normalising relations and ending the embargo so he could make out like a bandit on the re-development, not doing this.

Very surprising.

These changes are to punish Cuba for its support of the Nicolas Maduro regime?

In most part yes. But I believe to also put a stranglehold on the Castro regime.

Khashoggi was NOT a US citizen despite living here and working for the Wash Post. He wasn't wacked on US soil. He rolled the dice and spoke out against his Saudi government and lost. Why should the Trump admin nor any of us US citizens care?
