thecapo Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I have quit A few boxes (full). Should they be rotated from top to bottom and so on. If so, how often?
Smallclub Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Every time I want to smoke a cigar from a box resting at the bottom of one of my Tupperdors… 2
zmancbr Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I never rotate. This. Only way I move boxes around is if I have play tetris. 2
ramon_cojones Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 ^I think if I get a couple more boxes in I will need a major reorg so I'll probably play a little tetris then as aristo is getting full.
olotti Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Once I have them set in the cooler where they'll all fit they stay that way until a box is empty then I may have to reconfigure but otherwise I never touch em.
Bclass1 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I rotate a little bit I guess, not really on purpose. I have about 25 boxes and every time I get a new one I have to move things around. My boxes from '06,07',08' seem to be aging quite well with little movement.. It's all about air circulation in you humidor. Get some good beads, and more circulation fans if necessary..
johnhenry Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Only when I have to,but my question is why do I fell its mandatory to have my humi so when I open it cigars fall at my feet? I guess the second question is why is it when I finally have room for two boxes I buy four? it's a sickness! 1
Habana Mike Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I am debating moving shelf 1 to shelf 2, shelf 2 to shelf 3 and shelf 3 to shelf 1 since it seems the RH is higher the lower in the cabinet - 64 at the top and 68 at the bottom. Am also considering putting a few pounds of beads in the bottom of the box in an attempt to even out the humidity as has been previously suggested. Have heard this can be an issue with the bigger Bobs. Perhaps I'll do both......

I guess the second question is why is it when I finally have room for two boxes I buy four? it's a sickness! Yep this. Why do I have a 50ct humi and like 80 sticks to fit in it (my collection is in it's infancy) and then "ooh look, rob has CoRos on sale. Better get some of them" Thank the great pumpkin for Tupperware 1
1LegLance Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 It seems I am always looking to smoke something that in the box on the bottom or back of the winecoolers. I run 2 and the only thing I don't do is switch boxes between the 2. Plus I work with a bunch of residents at my hospital and I am always helping them to join the darkside, thus they help me dig around also
Skyfall Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 They are just cigars, don't over think it mate!!!!
AbuAmelia Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I play Tetris everyday. Can't help myself if I tried. Seems like every time I play, I find more room. Lol
maxcjs0101 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I thought OP was talking about rotating the cigars IN the box. Few days ago i decided to let some air into a box of Partagas (they're a little box pressed) and i found out that it was so cramped in there that 2 sticks had damaged wrappers. Now if i have a little time to spare i'll randomly rotate them and check them as well.
polarbear Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 As long as you have stable RH on all levels of your humidor I see no reason to rotate. My fridges are so full I'm convinced there is only one order in whick all my boxes will fit, now that I've found it I'm not changing it until a couple of them are empty 1

Just take a single cigar out from the top and bottom layer, after a year or so the box press will have relaxed considerably
JoeyGunz Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I like to rotate my cigars, about every 2-3 puffs.
Gogicha Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I usually dont rotate boxes, only if a have a hard to reach box then may be I accidently switch their places, but thats it.
CUBANO Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I have a 3000 count humidor and I don't rotate. I have 65% beads on every shelf and the humidity is only 1-2% difference from the bottom and top shelf.
jrb5783 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I'm terrible at aging cigars I just smoke them to fast. That being said I have three coolers and I just put boxes I'm trying age on the bottom and try to forget about them
mk05 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 ...it seems the RH is higher the lower in the cabinet - 64 at the top and 68 at the bottom. Have you asked about using mini portable fans to distribute humidity rather than absorbing it? 1
