That is a phenomenal single barrel.

Tonight I will likely have another healthy pour of Walking Stick.

Nothing quite as soothing as the smooth burn of some good bourbon.

Any Minnesotans (or others) going to Whiskey On Ice in downtown Minneapolis tomorrow: I will be the big 6'4" fellow in jeans and a red long sleeved polo shirt. Say hi if you see me

Two glasses of Walking Stick single barrel. Too lazy to pour a third. But sure feel like I could use the pain killing effect.

Tasted these while at the local bottleshop earlier today: the Glenlivet Nadurra First Fill and the Glendronach Cask Strength Batch 4.

Most impressed by the Glenlivet, bright, fresh, clean, sweet and honeyed with good length. Well balanced, the malt takes centre stage with the wood influence providing the backup and body. Lacks the depth and complexity of the discontinued age statement bottlings but a very worthy release in its own right.

The Glendronach, while possessing more depth, richness and complexity from the sherry oak maturation lacks the brightness and finesse that I enjoyed in the Glenlivet. Wood character is more pronounced and it could do with a little more integration between the wood and malt. Still, a good release that is enjoyable.

Manhattan cocktail with Rittenhouse Rye whiskey. This was superb. I've tried this cocktail with Bourbon and Canadian whiskies, but I think Rye is my favourite. 2 parts rosso vermouth to 5 parts rye whiskey, with a dash or two of Angostura bitters.

Casino Cocktail, the first time I've made this and it was quite good. 2 ounces of Gin, 1/4 oz of Maraschino liqueur, 1/4 oz of lemon juice and 3 dashes of Regans' Orange Bitters. The maraschino cherry garnish really completed this drink.

Pappy 15 in my glass. Wow, definitely the best bourbon I've had. $200-$300 good, not $800 good though. Glad I got to finally try some. A more refined version of Weller 12 to be honest and somewhat like Bookers. Oak, sweet cinnamon, vanilla, some dark chocolate. Complex and so balanced.

It's no slouch. I'd put the price point slightly lower than where you did, as far as the product value in direct comparison. Unfortunately the market right now doesn't make sense. Then again I'm speaking of a bottle I had probably 5 years ago. Interesting to see if there is much difference.

Lagavulin 12, 2014 edition.

Bloody brilliant. Serge. Valentin was 100% right with his review.

I'll buy some more bottles while they're still available.

The cocktail that possibly inspired the martini, the Martinez. It's not an official IBA (International Bartenders Association) Cocktail, and no-one seems to have a definite recipe, especially in relation to parts. The ingredients are also specific and harder to source, but it made one nice, sweet refreshing drink! 2 oz Old Tom Gin, 3/4 oz Rosso Vermouth, 1/4 oz Maraschino liqueur and 2-3 dashes of Orange Bitters. Garnish with a lemon peel.
