Anyone remember the good old days of PSP EL E2s? I do! 2019 I think. Magnificent cigar of the year so far. All the notes hitting me just right today. Woody, buttermilk, tiny bit of wasabi through the nose.

Thoroughly enjoyed a RASS earlier today and wanted to follow (after dinner) with something completely different.  ...And this was it!  

The Special 53 was more subdued at the start than I recall when I had my last one when first issued (correction 2020; didn't realize so much time had passed!).  But the back half became all it's meant to be.  Touches of olor on the retro, not overpowering; soft strength, cedar and choc. nibs; Davi in its prime, thankfully.

I was pleasantly surprised by this smoke. First third was lackluster but it kept building in flavour and the last third was excellent. I smoked the R&J taco a few weeks ago, not great and hope to smoke the Dantes soon. The three worst LEs of late?

Partagas Salomones from ‘18 box was very good. Partagas LE 20 had amazing flavor but burn was horrible and very tight draw…very frustrating for a 50 euro stick .

Just a couple days ago when I smoked this Diplo while out chasing permit. Seems like longer, but the taste is etched in my brain.

H Upmann Majestic. Always wanted to try one, Upmann is my fave marca. Remarkably this tasted more like a RASS than a typical Upmann to me: heavy dark cherry or stewed fruit note. Dominated the shortbread which struggled to get out. Final third got peppery but that cherry stayed.

I'm glad that Punch Regios de Punch 2017 LE was good for you. It didn't have a great reputation upon release. That year, the Cohiba Talisman we the LE that everyone wanted. In regard to the year before, the Trinidad Topes was the sought-after LE. So much so, the Montecristo Dantes and Romeo y Julieta Capuletos didn't stand a chance to get any of the spotlight.

In regard to the year after, the Romeo y Julieta Tacos was an average LE in comparison to the excellent 2019 releases (i.e. Montecristo Supremos, Quai d'Orsay Senadores and Ramon Allones No.2); but then again, were the Bolivar Soberanos and H.Upmann Propios that much more reputable? Hmmm...

Ramon Allones Small Club Corona. This is a minutos, same size as a Monty 5. I love the RASS so wanted to try this. Probably the sweetest cigar I’ve ever had, packs a huge punch. Stewed fruit. Intriguing vegetal note at the back which may come out with age. 

Montecristo No 4. The perfect breakfast: a coffee and a Monty 4. The Monty profile is chocolate and coffee. This box was unsmokably bad for over a year but they’ve finally come good.

Actually the Monte 5 is a perlas, 102mm by 40 rg, minutos are 110mm by 42 😉

Very similar in strength, my fellow brother.

Such a smooth and well balanced cigar. The billowing smoke, the complexity…

Elegance might be the best word to describe the overall experience.

Wish I could smoke these on the daily, to be quite honest with you.

And this coming from someone who seldom strays from Cuban cigars.

Held a tasting/pairing with some local blokes yesterday evening and it was certainly the general consensus.
