Alex Canonazo.  My first time trying one of these Alex customs.  Not bad, nice draw, big smoke output. Flavor is at times very promising, other times a bit “green”.  Perhaps another year or two in humidor would do it justice.

Party Legado in Havana. Very interesting...in a good way. Silky smooth, refined and flavorful. Would have a hard time guessing it as a Partagas until about halfway when a little spicy earth crept in.

Epi 2 with ugly light wrapper but taste really good, much better than the oily dark wrapper I had couple of days ago …

 

not sure how the colour of the wrapper effect taste ( if it does ?) if you guys know let me know

I generally prefer light wrappers. Dark wrappers can have burn issues and heavier flavours.

On the other hand I think dark wrappers are supposed to age better (it might just be that they need more age, i have a ).

I have some 2009 punch rs 12 and they have very dark wrappers and I think they could still go longer. Same with 2016 Hoyo du prince, though not to the same extreme.

Thanks ! Our b&m Sales guy keep on telling me go for darker wrappers they’re much better ! My limited experience seems to be the opposite

I think it depends in the cigar, IMO dark wrappers don't suit hoyo or most Cubans at all, I actively avoid them. But for certain cigars like monte edmundo/petite Edmundo dark wrappers can be nice. But yeah, I don't seek them out.

Similar experience as you - the lighter wrapper Epi 2's usually have a bit more sweetness for me (cloves, cinnamon ... sweet spice), which I prefer.

On the other hand, don't mind a BBF with a darker, oily wrapper - the Guinness flavor stands out a bit more
