VKUTT - I like your description as "cheap and cheerful" and think that fits.  They are very different from any Punch Punch that I have had.  First off, this was probably at least 10 years old.  Sat in the Tupperware humidor for 8+ years and then I opened the cap and let it sit in my new cabinet humidor at 64% RH for almost 2 years.  As you can see from the pictures the CC had a great burn.  I would call this one very mild; no spice or pepper, more of a light tobacco taste, with nuances of wood, grass and sourdough bread.  What I really liked was a very fragrant light smoke coming off the cigar.  One of the best smelling cigars as it just sat in my hand.  I smoked it very slowly.  A very good "give away" cigar for someone not into stronger / younger cigars.

ARS SEP 19 Media Luna

I am enamored with the Esmiraldas I have smoked.  I was a little worried to try this cigar, because I smoked a Topes from the same shop where I bought the Media Lunas, and I was not happy with it at all.  I have a strong feeling it is because it was new stock at the store so it probably just made the journey from Cuba, so it probably just needs a good rest.  I thought the same would be true for the Media Lunas, but I got 3 boxes, so I figured it was worth the risk.

I’m glad I took the chance.  This is a phenomenal cigar.  Buttered biscuits and gingerbread, and all the other flavors I would expect from Trinidad.  If I still prefer the Esmiralda, it is not because of flavor.  It is only because it is a bigger cigar, giving me more time to take in the wonderful flavors before it vanishes into thin air.

Oliva Serie G. I’m really starting to miss my regular rotation. Back home tomorrow. 

This is NC week since I ran out of my Habanos stash on an emergency trip. Good quality tobacco none the less and any day I can herf with my bro is a great day. BTW I cut him his first Habanos ever, Epicure #2. He couldn’t believe what he was tasting. Nubbed it.

NC Hamlet 25th Corona. Construction great. Draw and smoke output great. Medium not over. So much black pepper on my tongue almost felt like I did a nummie. Maybe smoothed out as i smoked it but most likely just got used to it and add a little salt This is why I prefer CC’s.

We traded recently and he was very generous,  sending me his best stuff. This Monte 4 is a winner. Perfect  balance of sweetness, spice, nuts, wood, even a coating of caramel in the smoke that's just delicious.

Vegas Robaina Short Robaina 2014 - Edición Regional Andorra SUE Jul 2014

How does a principality with a population of a little over 77000 residents and a size of 468 square kilometres (or 181 square miles) qualify for seven Regional Edition releases over the years? Two words...tax reasons. Andorra is bordered by France to the north and Spain to the South, but in the cigar world it seems a little larger.

The Vegas Robaina Short Robaina is significant for two reasons. One, it is the last Vegas Robaina Regional Edition release to date (although a 2014 release it actually went to market in 2015) and two, its dimensions of 42 ring gauge x 110 mm (or 4⅜ inches) in length means it is only one of seven perlas (40 rg x 102 mm), secretos (40 rg x 110 mm) or minutos (42 rg x 110 mm) released in a total of two hundred and eleven Regional Edition releases since 2005 thus far.

If you recall the recent Swiss VR Petit Unicos I reviewed, I categorised that cigar has having a core Vegas Robaina chocolate, lush tobacco, raisin or date-type sweetness, baking spice and floral notes. This VR Short Robaina was not like that at all. I would infer that the reason why this cigar smoked differently, flavour-wise, was due to its minuto size. It resembled more of a San Cristobal de La Habana in flavour, and even after 5-and-a-half years of age this cigar was full-bodied, especially in its chocolate and earthiness. Perhaps it had a hint of raisin-sweetness and some floral edges, but these were minimal in comparison to the two dominant aforementioned flavours.

It compelled me to smoke slowly. Usually for a minuto cigar I know that I will smoke it within 30 to 40 minutes. This Vegas Robaina Short Robaina took me somewhere in the vicinity of 50 to 55 minutes to complete. I think the reason for this was due to the strong finish on the draw, it simply lingered a lot longer on the palate than your average minuto.

I'm grateful to @Thirds for gifting me this cigar to review. It was a fun ride proving how different Regional Editions sharing the same marca (i.e. the 2012 Swiss Vegas Robaina Petit Unicos and 2014 Andorran Vegas Robaina Short Robaina) can truly be.
