Por Larrañaga Montecarlos LGR Ago 2018

@THEMISCHMAN, I concur in regards to your assessment above about the PLMC, recent varieties (i.e. from '17 onwards) have been outstanding for me!

I recently picked up another box of Por Larranaga Montecarlos because my LGR Oct 17 box has smoked so well thus far and today was the first opportunity for me to smoke one out of this LGR Ago 18 box. Although I didn't specify box codes or wrapper shade when ordering this box, the wrapper shade on these Por Larranaga Montecarlos are light colorado brown, similar to, although perhaps a touch darker than my 2017 box.

How was it? Well the first third was all caramel with a bit of wood, the middle third saw the caramel and wood even out a little more and the last third saw some spice pick up. So overall that told me that I may need to re-visit this particular box a few times more and maybe let this box settle a few more months (like three to six). However, I was encouraged at the amount of sweeter caramel flavours this produced despite being around 12 months old.

E2 for my birthday. Odd experience. Little smoke,but sweet tobacco when good. Burn issues like crazy and when I drew a bit stronger it just got bitter but smoke production and burn improved.  A bit too large of an RG for me, but it was a beaut to look at!

AER May 15 Famosos, again courtesy of @JohnS.  A cigar I feel a personal connection to - The VR Famosos was the first box of CCs I ever bought.  VR can have the most beautiful wrappers there are IMO - silky, chocolatey.  A delicious cigar - lots of dark chocolate and sultana, with some spice and wood, "pure tobacco" notes throughout.  As it progresses the wood notes become more dominant and it loses some of its sweetness - first third 92-93, afterwards maybe 88-89.

After spending half of my day yesterday waiting to see if airline maintenance could fix our plane, they eventually pulled the plug and canceled the flight. No other options to get out last night so I returned home and grabbed this Monte 1, a freebie from the FOH crew. Nice way to wash away the frustration.
