2024 Solar Eclipse

It was cloudy here in Toronto. So this is as good as it got. The clouds parted enough to make the actual event visible.  Totality was only 99.56%  That 00.04% percent made a big difference. South of us in Niagara Falls it was 100% blocked and literally turned day into night. 

Here's my sad photo as the moon started making its' way past.  If anyone else got some good photos. Post em!

It was cloudy and grey all morning hier in Brantford but at around 2pm not a single cloud in sight. It was 100% total eclipse.

We were in the path in 2017 and now again in 2024. Cool experience. We only had about 2 minutes of totality this time around. At least it was clear skies and perfect weather.

Yep, we were west of Austin. We had 1 second of visible totality unfortunately. Not enough time for me to have focused the shot…

I drove about 14 hours round trip to Erie. Then drove around Ohio and PA looking for somewhere without clouds. Found it. It was sunny for everything but a single cloud came in and ruined most of the totality. But hey I did get to see the first 30 seconds or so, which were fully visible and it is a sight to behold. What I found most remarkable was actually the moon - you’ll never see a blacker black in your life. Here’s a pic from later on during a peak in the clouds. Given how bad the weather was in most of the path I’m grateful I saw what I did.

It’s really true what they say about the wind, and during totality all the nighttime insects suddenly come out and start making a racket with the birds. I can’t say I found it a particularly spiritual experience (a look at Webb or Hubble images is enough to remind one how insignificant we all are), but the very first moment did take my breath away.

Got cold out when the sun was blocked!

Here in east Texas it was cloudy. But when it happened, the clouds parted and had full view. It was spectacular!

Out here we had something just a bit more than 90%. The light barely changed on a beautiful clear day. The drop in temperature was kinda shocking. Must have been ten degrees Fahrenheit in about 15 minutes.

Didn’t have to drive far in 2017 but watched totality totally alone in Melvine, TN.

This time around made a road trip out of it with my wife and young son and ended up watching 4 minutes of bluebird sky totality in NW Arkansas.

Words can’t do it justice. Can’t wait for 2045. Might just become a totality chaser in retirement.

We flew to Montreal and drove to Magog for perfect conditions. Next trip will be to Spain for August 22, 2026.

Erie, PA. Hard for me to get a great photo of it with the phone.

In 2017 we had bluebird skies for the eclipse in Tennessee. This one was still great to watch.

So upset that I missed this one! Had to write so many assignments that day that i completely forgot about it. Next time it is not going to happen as i have these guys now https://academized.com/write-my-research-paper. They are happy to help me with all the papers and now i know they can do a very good job. Next time i not gonna waste my time for those things and concentrate on more important things instead.
