Never give someone a cigar you wouldn't enjoy smoking yourself.

THIS. 100%.

When traveling, always bring a few extra just in case you run into someone who is out.

If you're going to smoke with friends, doesn't matter the cigar you picked, take the band off.

If I smoke outside, I always bring a backup cigar. Having to go back inside to get a replacement when a cigar is a dud really breaks the magic for me.

Never discuss religion or US politics while smoking. It kills the buzz.

Possibly the ultimate rule.

I was asked last week if I had any  cigar codes  that I live by. There are a few ;)

I thought it a good question to put to members here.

Cigar codes you live by.

             1. You can post one only

              2. Don't re-post what someone else has already posted.

:cigar:

Try to always honour the cigar and light it with a (cigar) match.

I would amend that slightly to say never give someone a cigar that would enjoy it less than you.

I wouldn't give anyone a piece of crap but I've certainly given away cigars that I wouldn't smoke. Maybe it's not my taste or maybe it's too mild for me but I know a guy who likes milder cigars.

If you find yourself questioning whether or not you should share a special/expensive/limited cigar with a less experienced aficionado that you fear might not fully appreciate the cigar...Always share so long as you think they can actually smoke the whole cigar without getting sick.

I have never regretted sharing a cigar with another person...even the morons.

And, if you think they might get sick from smoking it, you should still share it with them. But make sure you're not at your house or on your own boat.... that way you don't have to clean up their puke and you can watch the festivities as you secretly take great satisfaction in their misery.
