Favorite Habanos for Winter

What do you prefer (those in the northern hemi) for the winter (xmas season) and what about the profile gives you that toasty seasonal delight that matches the cooler weather and seasonal cuisine?

I'm smoking more RASS, Partagas D4, Punch Punch but for Xmas I'm thinking a Cohiba Robusto or Esplendido.. 

Drink pairings? I'm currently sitting outside in the East Bay, CA enjoying a spiced apple cider with rye whiskey and nutmeg smoking a My Father le bijou 1922 box pressed torpedo... will migrate to Habanos this evening and tomorrow all day...

I live in Florida so cold weather / smoking outdoors is not a factor. For me, without a doubt, Bolivar Corona Gigantes is my holiday/winter cigar. Since it is has been discontinued I’ve made sure I have enough tucked away for the next 50 or so winters. Backup would be Partagas Lusitanias.

Winter tones me down a bit. I prefer the shorter smokes. Not out in the cold as long. Those dark wrapper plpc’s, even young I know. Or a Sig ll. PLMC ( off the charts for me). And a good “ depth charge scotch”. Think lagavulin 16. 👍🏻
 

Now, having said that, if I rearrange the autos ( and various engines/parts lol ) to make room in the garage I reach for a robusto. Coro, D4. etc. And hush with the “  you have to many cars” I hear that enough. 😂😂

I save my DC’s for spring or fall where I can commit hours to my hobby with no fear of being interrupted/ annoyed by weather.

Which profiles have the essential "xmas flavors" ringing through? I've noticed The Pres in his descriptions on 24:24 reference this but can't recall which nail Christmas cake/pudding....

We may be in the norther hemisphere, but winter on the 37th parallel is pretty much a joke....especially in the Bay Area 👻

Last night I watched people smoking in the snow...god bless them!...and they weren’t smoking tres petit coronas.

I’m more of a morning, noon and night than a winter, spring, summer or fall smoker.

The holidays are always a reason to pick something a little extra special!

In terms of what smokes especially well in the cold of winter, skinny cigars benefit from the cold dry air.

In terms of seasonal flavours, I'm not sure. Other than mince meat pie at my in-laws at Christmas (which might get cancelled because nobody cares for it other than my father in law and I, and my sister in law despises it), I don't really eat or drink anything super seasonal. There are a couple of cigars with that spiced/dried fruit flavour. And a lot more cigars with clove/baking spice flavours.

In terms of drink pairings, usually something hot and that will last the whole cigar, generally tea, hot water or hot water with whiskey or rum in it. Maybe a beer sometimes. Almost never a coffee for some reason.

Last night I had a SCDLH Prado with an egg nog / bourbon (knob creek).
It was fantastic.
I recommend it to anyone who likes SCDLH. An El Principe would be great as well.

I like the big guns like Monte A, Salomones, or Double Corona in the winter.  I have more time to spend since not as much is going on in the freezing cold at night.

Nothing like exhausting cigar smoke into the below freezing air, for the passer's by at least.

Bolivar PC and CJ, Monte 4, Siglo II, Upmann HC, and HdM Depute all hit the spot for winter. The short Cuban cigars are outstanding…

I’m not stuck outside fortunately, so for me it’s a Lusitania.  Had one the last 3 nights.  Tonight for my Xmas smoke, likely it’s gonna be a Sir Winston, but I may reach for one of my Cohibas or Fundadores.  It’s whatever sounds best when I’m staring at my cabinet for 10 minutes.

Ha.  I picked the same three for tonight.  I'm going with the SW 'cause I committed to it, but Fundie and Talisman are on deck.  Might try smoking all three at once and let the hospital know to expect an OD later.

Used to be a Reyes, but inconsistency and price drove me away. Received a 5x5 2015 RG Perlas - once it got chilly, man those went quick. Cohiba Shorts while walking the dog.

I've been smoking the heck out of my Trinidad Coloniales lately. Very comforting smoke. I never have to wonder or worry about them. 

Conversely, I've been avoiding all Fuente cigars. They've been tasting like card board lately.

I’m an outside smoker, so in the damp London winter it tends to be minutos and robustos for me. Party Shorts, El Principe, RG Perlas for the small stuff, and a wide range of robustos. I very rarely have a big smoke unless the weather is nice.

I went for my last of 5 yr aged Edmundos I received from our gracious hosts during the summers aged stock sale. It’s been raining something else here in the Bay Area and today it really poured so there was I stood under my eave on the back deck puffing away, slowly, on what was a marvelous milk chocolate and cedar flavor bomb. Christmas perfection. 
 

I also love the party short. Have a box of medio siglo en route… will be hard pressed to lay them down until next year

Minuto for me up in the mitten state. Was blessed with warmer temps but couldn’t make it outside until 11PM. Definitely below freezing now. 🥶

Last night was a pretty typical monte 4 that needed to acclimate to my humidor more. So got tossed with about an two inches left.
Tonight: luckily my cab of E.L. Siglo I is in a great spot. Smoking like a dream right now.

Not really cold for Boston, at least when I was growing up.

Looking forward to moving there someday (hence my handle name).  Need a place I can have a cigar in the winter.  Snowing right now.  I don't even bother with cigars when it gets near freezing.

Seems like many are opposed to smoking inside.  Much easier to smoke inside than it is freezing outside.

If I'm not smoking in my shed, my winter smokes are HUHC, RG, PL or Quinteros Panatelas, or various Puritos.
