Connoisseur Kim Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 Texas Hold'em isn't popular as US in Korea, so I'm not only unfamiliar with Texas hold'em but also difficult to find Texas hold'em guides and online practices. I'd be appreciated if you guys let me know some ways to improve Texas Hold'em skill (e.g. online practice).
Tstew75 Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 So many great books out there... I'd start with 'The Theory of Poker' by David Sklansky Dan Harrington's book 'Harrington on Hold Em' is also pretty damn great despite being written back in 04. Also & 'Doyle Brunson's Super System'...Classic. Honorable mention, 'Playing the Player' by Ed Miller 2

Fosgate Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 I'd vote on the books also. A friend and I play alot of this. https://www.amazon.com/BBstudio-Inc-Poker-Championship/dp/B0776Y9BGP/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=championship+poker&qid=1613705970&s=mobile-apps&sr=1-1 We both access it through our Amazon Firestick on the TV.See players from all over the world on it. It has a percentage chance of winning meter as the cards flip. Tournaments that you can rack up points. Both of us have stepped up our sit down games. While it doesn't have the annoying players sitting there flapping their gums in front of you trying to make you loose focus. Instead of focusing on physical distractions you can focus on learning the betting techniqes people use and play alot of hands quickly. I believe gets one much more comfortable with what it going on with the table so when you sit down at the table with other players, you are much quicker to absorb what is going on at the table and not fall for the intentional false tells and bluffs so easily. One o the best parts is that this app and game is free, there are areas you can go pay if you'd like but I never have. 1
Popular Post mprach024 Posted February 19, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2021 Kim if you find a silver bullet and you become a stud at hold’em, let me know. I’m rubbish, and just never cared to change that. I’m usually perfect happily to go all in on first hand, than spend the rest of the time walking around smoking a cigar, getting drinks, and making fun of people. 1 4
Habana Mike Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 Books are great though as others have said, it is the number of games you play where you will learn. Many online poker sites have free games you can play as many as you want at no cost. 1

More games with guides seem to be the answer for hold'em newbie like me. Just noticed that Poker Tournament isn't available in Korea unlike PokerStars ? 1 hour ago, mprach024 said: Kim if you find a silver bullet and you become a stud at hold’em, let me know. Poker for fun seems to be a good idea if I really want to do hold'em for chillin and vibin (of course with some donkey dick cigars LOL) ? 1 hour ago, Habana Mike said: Books are great though as others have said, it is the number of games you play where you will learn. inter4alia Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 For fun and a little learning watch the movie Rounders. Mississippi Grind is also a good poker movie. World Series of Poker reruns also fun to watch and educational. Happy learning! 1

La_Tigre Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 Bear in mind that tournament play and cash game play are vastly different. Make note of the books you are reading and what your aim is. The right amount of patience and shifting gears when necessary is key in tournament play with no rebuys. And...it was an hour too late when we realized poker was on last night again...we mostly play for fun and the fellowship. The buyins that get over low 3 figures get way too competitive and you can see the pain on the players that cannot afford to be playing. It’s just not fun to be winning at that point. 1

david9985 Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Play regularly, but don't play any of the free games, they will teach you nothing. Poker simply does not work as a game if you are not playing for something. Play the smallest real money stakes. There are many articles and videos online, I have found both Upswing Poker and Blackrain79 to be very helpful. 1
PuroDan Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Being good at math helps a ton especially when you play online. Thanks, but too bad that it's illegal to play hold'em with real money in Korea and only legal domestic casino doesn't have hold'em at all ?. 13 hours ago, PuroDan said: Being good at math helps a ton especially when you play online.
