Gorangutang
Anyone have a good solution for labeling where and when and box codes on your loose cigars that you would share with me? What do you use? Looking for something that won't damager wrappers that I can hand write on. Also something that won't impart a smell. Will probably bundle quarters in a ribbon or something and label the ribbon, rather than each individual cigar. But sometimes I only have one or two so it would be nice to label individually. My collection is getting large enough that its too hard to keep track mentally anymore. Thank you!
MrBirdman
I quickly concluded that actually labeling the cigars wasn’t gonna work for me, and I’d prefer not to keep most of them in bags. I keep a spreadsheet of my boxes, shipments, and singles/packs, which for the singles includes where I store them. If I have a lot of mixed singles of one cigar in an area I try to keep them divided. Packs I label with a sticker. My spreadsheet also tracks receipt dates, when the cigars are resting and is also where I keep my notes. Took a little while to setup but I find it useful. Not sure where I’d post it but if people are interested let me know.
Wailbait
Kenco cigar labels. They work well for me. 2
MrBirdman
I would also point out that I usually don’t get too hung up on the actual code for most singles, just approximate date (eg early 2019). When you buy packs elsewhere you probably won’t get any info at all, and packs/singles here are usually not guaranteed to come from the listed box code, so I just try to keep them separated by approximate date.
Popular Post dominattorney
This is why I have resisted the temptation to care about box codes for so long. 4
SansSin
i like to keep track of mine like the bird and i also save my cello from my NC and use little round blank stickers to label individual cigars. i've also seen people just buy blank cigar bands from places like https://www.onlinelabels.com/materials/cigar-labels doesn't seem too expensive. a strip of paper with a little cigar glue at the ends would prob work well too
Bijan
I use a spreadsheet too. I generally get singles and quarter boxes to smoke shorter term (compared to box purchases). If I want to keep them longer term I use bags.
ChangBang
Craft/sewing store? Can probably find the same kind of ribbons are wrapped around cigars that come in cabs.

La_Tigre
If it becomes part of your intake habit, it is routine. I’ve just gotta tackle the backlog to be complete. What I’ve done is put all the like singles in a ziploc with a slip of paper or the actual box code from the box of Tubos or carton packs. This has them all organized but not by single stick for gifting, etc... it depends on how neurotic you want to be about it. Most folks go with the Kenco labels for individual labels. I’ve heard of using post it notes cut into strips and wrapped around like a band. I’ve ordered some cigar labels from onlinelabels that are printable to check out, too.
rckymtn22
I just use a blank piece of paper that I cut into thin strips, write on the cigar info, then cut to a bit bigger than the cigar diameter and then a tiny bit of clear tape to loosely wrap around the cigar. Super cheap

That way I know when I can start breaking into certain boxes after rest

That way I know when I can start breaking into certain boxes after rest I have so many reminders on my phone already I dread adding more! Here's a screenshot of my Current Boxes page for reference. I'm so disorganized I need to keep things laid out clearly or I'll never keep up. I am not too detailed with my notes, just record general thoughts after smoking a few, sometimes the vendor. NB: I added extra days to the Lanceros, normally it's just +90.

StogieSteve23
3 & 5 finger bags for longer term storage are great. Singles that I throw into a humidor I just use lined paper and write the box code/date on that and tape it around the foot of the cigar. Protects the cigar, cut to size and comes off easily. Everyone is different though. I've heard of other people doing receipt paper as well. Example of what I do is below.
Zaxeiler
I feel like a bit of a mongrel, I just use post-its on the inside of the cooler/storage tub's walls, near the cedar trays that hold loose cigars.

Lomey
I just cut paper into strips and use a thin piece of tape to attach it around the cigar making sure the tape doesn't touch the cigar of course. I've heard the cigars labels come off over time so I've just done this with no issues.Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Quick, each and cheap.
BeerPimp
When this came up before someone mentioned a Dymo labeler. It works really and is easy to use. Once you get the size figured out it goes fast. I print them then tear a small amount of the backing off then fold it over the label so the sticky part stays on the label and doesn't touch the cigar. Even if you expose a little too much I have never had it stick to the cigar.
